I'm a Tetris fan, and I'm very proud to say that this could be something here. The art, the music, and the concept are very good. I would have liked the game more if the scenario were the usual ten blocks space.
As soon as I started playing, I thought about how it would be very difficult to avoid the movements of a professional Tetris player. But maybe that would be a pain to make, so maybe playing around with different player movements could add some difficulty. For example, Tetris players that like to fill the whole screen with blocks and then clear the lines with back-to-back Tetrises leave you with little space to move and avoid the blocks, while players that like to make 4-line clears as fast as they can leave you with more space to move, but with less time to react to their fast movements.
Keep up the good work!
Wow, amazing game! The pixel art is very nice and goes well with the audio! It'd be nice to see it continued, with more diversity (more shapes at different speeds)! Though when you start the game, the - Click to play - text really breaks the immersion. The graphics are super well themed and retro and the color pallette changer is really nice, just like an original GameBoy. But when you die it has a terrible transition, it would be nice to see it refresh the screen from top to down and no just switch so fast. For a 48-hour game and a first game, it really exceeded my expectation! Good luck on your GameDev journey! This was the best game I saw for now!
thanks for the very in depth feedback. :D
I wanted to add different speeds aswell but I was worried that there might come a time when the speed of one group of tetrerios may end up trapping and killing you with you being able to do nothing.
Also, what did you mean that the "click to play" text broke the immersion? cuz I'm kinda confused there :/
and finally, ye the transition was bad ngl, I just had no isea how to make it better in time :(
I love the retro vibe of the game! The game is fun, and has potential! I like that the Tetrerios looks in the direction he is going, nice touch! Well done for your first game jam... first of many to come I'm sure! :D
Thx for the feedback :)
The "retro look" was because of the software that I used, called tic80. if ur interested in retro stuff , but don't want to code in assembly and stuff, then you should check it out [and also pico 8] .
Also after this jam, I may end up adding a ton more features
assuming I know what to add later
also your game was really good, just saying.
This is good for a first game jam. It is my first as well, but your game is pretty fun to play. Also, I’ve never heard of Tic-80. It seems pretty interesting though.
