Impressive solo-project! Visuals look great, although playing as the boss is probably the most given role-reversal. Even though gameplay is quite slow it runs  smoothly , liked the sound effects. One thing that I haven't seen anybody else mention yet is how the boss skills could be bought at any point but could only be used by a certain single boss; so it's unclear for the player that the skills are boss-bound. Hero could be a bit more aggressive, got to level 25 until I decided I wanna see the last boss in action. Great work overall, keep on keeping up!

Quite a few of those were things I considered during the jam. However I had to leave some things out just cause I would've never had the time to implement it all especially considering I was working solo.

Can't say I disagree tho! If I end up polishing this up, I'll definitely keep this stuff in mind

Nice game prototype I could easily see a story mode where heroes go bragging the crowd in front of the dungeon where you'll beat em easily :D

Some ideas to improve the overall experience

  • In my opinion it's a bit slow, it should be more nervous such as "Dead Cells" for the example. Very controllable and reactive.
  • Maybe it could be cool to choose which boss you place at which level to let emerge some strategies and like giving malus to heroes when dying so they could be easier to beat for the biggest ones.
  • Use a progression in vagues. So you'll get a wave of x heroes with growing stats/power as you did. Then you'll beat the wave and it start with another hero type.
  • When beating a hero or completing a wave you'll got level-up or skill points to enhance the dungeon or the boss skills.

Well I must say as simple the idea is it's quite inspiring to make it grow :)

Pretty cool version of the idea. I think you did a good job of making the player feel like a big slow boss enemy. I kind of wish the Hero's AI improved more noticeably beyond just dodging but overall good execution. Also very nice pixel art!

We also play the enemy! Check ours too !

I think out of all the "you play as enemy" concept I've played so far from the jam, this one looked and played the best! well done.

I do agree the movement could use some work.. but then maybe that's the point! i'm a slow monster that hero is supposed to defeat! I could see this being even more fun further development!

Concept was great and the art was amazing.

Great concept and execution, My only criticism is that a health bar on the hero would have been helpful.

I also encountered a bug where when defeating the hero with the herald, the game freaked out for a bit and went to a black screen.

I really liked the concept and it is implemented very well too! The only criticism I have is you should include a way for the player to see how much "health" the hero has. Nice work! :)

I saw the game on Twitter and I had to try it. I find the concept of the game very interesting, that you play the boss instead of the hero. It just lacked a bit of tactical depth while fighting in my opinion. It's actually good to use the bosses' abilities at any time. That means I spammed the right mouse button during the fight. This makes fighting very repetitive very quickly. I also find that fighting gets very slow later in the game. I always let the slime boss die straight away and continue playing with the skeleton. Nevertheless, i find the game very good and i love the responsive menu and the artstyle. Great job!

Really cool concept, and fun to play. Only thing I could think to change is to maybe up the pace of the game a bit!
