Simple idea, but you executed it really nicely. I love how there's an added gameplay element of trying to position the ball right in the middle of where the platform will be when you swap. Would love to see a version where you get a little warning before the swap happens so you can play around it more. Really nice work!

Developer

Thank you! The idea was the music would be that warning you talk about, as the swap is synced with the rhythm. In a post-jam version I might put in a short countdown before the swap to make it clearer. Thank you for your comment!

Once I figured out what was happening it was fun haha. I didn't notice a penalty for missing the ball and letting it bounce off the bottom of the screen, maybe having it destroy a random brick when it hits the floor would be a good idea? that could add more urgency to the gameplay. Also it took quite a long time to destroy the last few bricks, but I was determined to do it!

I don't think I get what you mean when you say it penalizes you for letting the ball bounce off the screen, but if it is what I think it is, it seems like you found the one glitch I was hoping no one would find! You're not actually supposed to miss the ball, but there's this pesky bug making it miss some collisions from time to time. Trying to solve it was half of the development time, and I thought I had at least solved the ball abandoning the screen, but it seems it can still happen in some super strange conditions. About the not knowing what to do and the last bricks being tricky to destroy, you're absolutely right, I'll have to fix that once the jam ends to make the goal more understandable and the end-game more compelling. Thank you a lot for your feedback!

The game is very well executed and it feels very good to play. My only complaint is that it took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to be doing. Once I got the ideia that I have to dodge the ball as the big platform it felt a lot more interesting.

Anyways, the game is great. Congratulations!

Developer

I'm getting that a lot! Guess I'll have to go back to the drawing board to figure out how to solve it once the jam ends. Thank you for playing the game and leaving a comment, I really appreciate it!

Such a good idea! + I LOVE brick breakers!

Developer

Thank you, so glad you enjoyed it!

I rushed to break my own bricks at first haha!

I think the concept is a super cool mashup of pong and breakout, though it gets a little tedious to hit the opponent when they have only a few bricks left, i thought the gale was fun!

Developer(+1)

Sadly you're right, I didn't find a way to solve it that wouldn't just break the game, but I'll certainly try to fix it in a post-jam version. Thank you so much for taking the time to play my game, I really appreciate it!

Not gonna lie, I thought I had to  "die" first haha
Creative idea nonetheless!

Developer(+1)

I decided keeping it as simple as I could was worth the risk of somebody thinking they had to be killed first, guess the fact that there's no way to do a no hit match also builds towards that idea, but since nothing actually changes no matter who wins, I just didn't think that could be a problem. Thank you for playing my game and leaving a comment!

I like your game too! It is a interesting twist on a pong like style game, quiet enjoyable! Thanks for playing my game too. :)

Small and clever game with a cool implementation for both single and vs player modes.

The Cover Image especially is very styling. Overall good sense of identity for the game.

Good job!

Developer

Thank you! So glad you liked my game!

Very interesting idea and nice execution. Wish there was some kind of timer saying when the paddle would switch to make it a bit more fair. Good job!

Developer(+1)

The idea was the role change would be clear enough given that it happens following the rhythm of the song, but you're right, maybe I should have made it clearer with some kind of countdown. Thank you for playing it and writing a comment!

Np, hope my feedback was useful!

Fun game! At first I thought I was playing against my own past moves haha. Well done :)

Developer

That would have been cool not gonna lie. Thank you for playing it!

Really nice game. It needs a way to get back to the menu after finishing a game though.

Developer

True, was tight on time and decided to fix some bugs instead of doing that. Thanks for the feedback!

Took a minute to understand but its pretty cool!

Developer (1 edit)

Got that from someone else in the comments. Guess I'll have to go back to the drawing board to figure out how to fix that. Thank you for your feedback!

The games idea and gimmicks are fantastic, but it sucks when you get to the last singular block(s) as it is virtually impossible to clear it if you know what you're doing. I really liked the idea and it was executed very well!

Developer

Thank you! I thought the same about those last moments of the game, it truly is almost impossible to get someone to win.
