Very fun little game, well polished. I liked the different control feelings on changing grounds.

This game is ridiculous, I love it!

Getting an immediate fail when you crash into the cones feels a bit harsh though. It discourages you from driving as fast as you can, which is what I wanted to do.

Well done!

Developer(+1)

good point! I noticed myself holding drift the whole time too

Submitted(+2)

Fun game, just add drifting and you'll have better controls.

Developer(+3)

You actually can drift! Hold space to brake/drift. This is shown on the how to play screen, but we realized that some people may not see that screen, and it'll be more obvious in the post-jam version :)

Submitted(+3)

Very nice artstyle, and the game is pretty fun! Though turning controls feel a bit too sensitive.

Developer(+3)

thanks for the feedback. maybe a gamepad would have worked better

Submitted(+3)

nice! played a while! I like how you cant back up and blow up on walls. great job!

Developer(+3)

The way I came up with to make the driving controls was redirecting a percent of the player's speed (traction percent) in their move direction. this didn't work with reversing because it would redirect the backwards speed forwards. I know how to fix this in theory, but I didn't have time to actually implement a fix. Easiest thing was just to remove reversing. I love how that became a core part of the game that you enjoyed :)

Love The Game Car Controls Abit Bad Though!

Thanks for the feedback!

Really cool game! I loved the concept, visual, and polish. I had a great time playing it!

Submitted(+3)

This game art is amazing, great job here! The concept its pretty fun too, good job! :D

The art-style of this is really well made! Main Menu looks incredible too! I love the retro-arcade vibe, It might be a little bit too easy to crash and it’s sad you don’t know what your score was if you did!

Overall a simple yet fun concept with a decent amount of replay value, would love to see it expanded upon with new mechanics and levels!

Developer(+3)

post jam we're planning on adding more levels, and that's a good idea about crashing - when u crash maybe we'll make it so the level ends right there. so you still don't want to crash but crashing with one second left is less punishing

Submitted(+3)

Apart from not being able to reverse when you're about to hit the cones the driving is fantastic. I feel like it didn't lend itself too well with the lawn-moving part though. It would have been much more fun to race with it, but I guess that was the challenge of the game jam. Solid controls, and stellar art. Nice work!

Developer(+3)

Thanks! I'd love to work on my car physics more and make a racing game

Submitted(+2)

The art is stellar. I found the controls a little difficult to get used to. I think if the car was just a slight bit slower it would be a bit easier to control. Often when I hit the edges of the stage it didn't feel like it was my fault, but rather because the car was out of control.

That could just be me, though. Solid game!

Submitted(+3)

Game is pretty juicey, I really appreciate that artist

Developer(+2)

Thanks! Actually almost everyone on our team contributed considerably to the art, so as a bit of a pixel art perfectionist myself, I was pleasantly surprised when the graphics came together as cohesively as they did. I even learned a new pixel art techniques from one of my teammates.

You know what, this is a really satisfying game, great idea!

Developer(+1)

Thanks VaporFaze! We had our doubts about whether it would fit the theme since we were initially planning a second part where you compete in a race driving a zero turn mower or something, but it's great to see the positive reception of the game and idea!

Submitted(+2)

Nice game concept, the control is simple and the car trimming grass is satisfying :) Maybe could add a bit control hint will help player know how to move the car at beginning :)

Developer(+2)

Thanks! In the build we uploaded for the jam, the controls are shown on the 'how to play' screen, which can be accessed from the level select screen, but we recognized that some players might not see them, and made them show on startup as well, which will be there in the post jam version :)

Submitted(+3)

hahaha! Love the theme-tie in, funny idea, well done - I like your art!

Developer(+2)

thanks! I'm happy with how it came out, especially since it was a team project so we all had slightly different styles

Submitted(+3)

Actually funny how much I died!

Developer(+2)

basically hold drift the whole time to cheese it. much easier to not go too fast and instead of actually mowing it like the lawn (strips), just do donuts in the middle of the grass

Submitted(+3)

Hahaha, that would work :)

Submitted(+3)

next time i need my lawn mowed i'm hiring max verstappen. old school video game liquid dnb, very tasteful sir

Submitted(+3)

Really fun game, the art of it is fantastic and the gameplay feels very smooth, yet pretty hard!

Developer(+2)

we had to make a choice between actually designing more levels and making super sick pixel art. we chose pixel art!!
