this reminds me of my de@d hamster
Man, this concept is really clever, but the gameplay really lets it down.
The game promises the ability to choose between growing larger and growing smaller as viable strategies, but the best small strategy (herbivory) seems to be broken by a bug; plants seem to stop spawning after a certain point, making non-Carnivourous (and therefore non-Gigantism strategies) not worth it.
There's also some polish issues in that the enemies evolve exactly when you do, but your positions and their positions don't get reset, so you could instantly be right up in a predator's face and instantly die.
The game's still quite fun, but it's really rough around the edges and needs a lot more polish. Hopefully it gets it though, this has the potential to be both really fun and educational.
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the game will continue to live after the jam - we’re aiming for a fun (but accurate) introduction to some evolutionary concepts, and seeing that some people are sensible to this aspect is very encouraging!
that was fun! I loved that you could choose your own path and then see all the choices you made at the end. oh, and i loved the soundtrack
Nice

The game gave me a great sense of being a great predator its definitely more relaxing than someone would anticipate
The game rules, I'm not sure why I just had a great time with it. The sprites for the animals look very cute and I like the concept a lot. Nice work making the evolution feel realistic, like becoming bigger means you become a bigger threat but you have to eat a lot more. This was very fun nice job
Genuinely super fun, but the music is eh. Also feels like it needs some kind of goal to work towards
Agreed. The goal was the score - until I forgot to unmask it in the final upload. As for the music, I am no musician, so the initial plan was to look for assets - but when we got the idea, I decided to let go and have fun!
