Lovely little game! The planetary movement is done really well and that cannot have been easy!

Developer

Really appreciate the kind words!

We actually took a somewhat simple approach so it might be easier than you'd imagine ๐Ÿ˜ Gravity is controlled by Unity Effectors, and we just turn the Effectors on/off depending on which planet's trigger you enter. Then we point the transform.up of the player based off player pos and the planet center. Since we're doing that we can just push the velocity left and right from the player POV ๐Ÿ˜Š

There's actually a bit of a bug with the Effectors I think, we didn't fencepost them properly, so until you exit one for the first time I don't think it turns off. That's why if you walk into overlapping ones without first jumping weird stuff can happen lol. But yeah the general gist of it is rely on Unity to do the heavy lifting for us ๐Ÿ˜›

Thanks for playing!

Really cool idea. I wish the eating had a larger hitbox and you could eat the objects, them piling on top of me can be annoying.

Developer

Lol fair, they autodelete in 10s cause they were annoying. Thanks for playing!

I like the idea and the gameplay is fun but it gets a bit repetitive quickly. Also make sure to replace the player with a higher resolution version when it scales up to keep up the same pixel density

Developer

Thanks for playing ๐Ÿซฐ๐Ÿฝ yeah the game is just vibes lol. We had plans to add enemies and such but we only got a couple days to work during the jam. Appreciate the feedback anyways!

Great job on the environment destruction. I did get tired of eat the planets though. Even at the larger scales it takes a long time to finish a  planet. I really liked the gravity effects and the jumping puzzles caused by that.

Im happy to report that I ate the universe! (Or 80% I guess). Soothing music, chill gameplay. Very nice experience!

- Not in scope for a game jam probably but it would have been nice if every stage of growth was more pixels so you always had the same density of pixels as the planets. Would have added a bit of visual flair

Can you even eat 100% of the universe? I got rid of all the planets but had only eaten a little over 80%...

Developer

The universe is infinite... lol JK it's probably a UI but ๐Ÿ˜› Good job and thanks for playing ๐Ÿซฐ๐Ÿฝ

I chomped on planets, i love that. I think that as a core mechanic eating planets and then using them to jump to other planets is really cool. I love how much visual feedback you put into with the buildings and people as we chomped on their planets. I really liked trying to identify possible other planets and jump to them. As far as feedback goes, I think the game could use some additional challenge. It tends to be a bit on the easy side but it is very satisfying to grow and chomp.

Nice work!

Developer

Thanks for playing! We wanted to actually go in the direction of having enemies you have to avoid and such, but we only got a couple days to work during the jam unfortunately. So we pivoted to a "cozy" style (aka less other gameplay ๐Ÿ˜›). Appreciate the feedback and definitely agree!
