How does your game fit the theme?
In GaugeMage, the player must change their size to get through the levels. Simple enough right, well, there is a catch. When the player change size, so do the things around them.

I love the idea that the soundtrack is just the tune which the character hums to himself.
The idea that the player has to be in a certain place to scale an object is interesting. One thing I would like to see more of are situations where it's hard for the player to not scale an object with him (for example if there is not enough space to move away from it or with a separate mechanic) and what kind of puzzles can be created from it.
Great job!
Had a lot of fun with this. The idea of effecting just the space you contain is really elegant. I also kept the music on the whole time and never regretted my decision.
Really good game! Art fits really well, and it is really impressive how much you can do with just scaling different things!
The background music fits perfectly into the game, and it has such a nice idea for a beginning game dev, keep it up!
Lmao love the looping background song. Very creative use of sound design. The chained mechanic of things scaling big and small within the circle makes a really engaging gameplay; still creative but also with challenging boundaries. Simple and easy to pick up for beginners. Good job for this game. :)
I have to give props for being able to finish this on time. It's a simple gimmick to be sure but it has a lot of applications. If you decided to expand this out into a full game this core mechanic could work for it. A shame we couldn't see more of the art but that's game jams
Congrats on finishing your game!
I love the sprite artwork! Shame you didn't have enough time to make sprites for more because I would have loved to see what you created. Very straightforward design, and mostly well taught so that I was able to figure out everything easily.
I think my biggest hang-up was the level that introduced yellow bullets. You're never explicitly taught you can gauge projectiles, and needing to shrink as they're about to hit you wasn't intuitive. But mostly what made it frustrating was that it wasn't at the start of a level, so experimenting with trial and error meant I had to replay the first section of the stage several times before I figured it out. That mechanic would benefit greatly from being it's own stage alone, either to teach more directly, or provide a less punishing space for the player to experiment and figure it out.
And as charming as your little doot & snap song was, it quickly became very repetitive. But that's really minor!
Cool little jam game. And it's the perfect length. You showcase a handful of mechanics, give the player a chance to play with them and learn more interactions, and then it's done. Excellently paced!
Good job and keep making games!
Managed to bug the first block by shrinking and walking over it so it launched me into the air and got stuck at a bigger size so I couldn't put it back in the hole. I also had a lot of problems with boxes going out of sync with when I shrank/grew, making levels impossible? Couldn't get past the second level because of it.
Love the acapella!
Your voice is really fun to listen, great way to avoid bland music and sounds ! It was exactly what I searched for a plateformer with this theme ! Northing more, but nothing less ! Great job in only 96h !
good puzzle design, I love how all the sounds are using your voice, the sprites look really nice, it would be cool to see the levels in the same art style. well done on this :D
Ahah the music made my day ! Nice idea to stretch object by contact
haha ty!
Art style is cute, Puzzles are well thought. Overall good idea. Level Design and Environment could use some improvements
Another jam, another banger! Big fan of your games.
The art was very cute, the gameplay was interesting, though quite challenging at times, the main mechanic was smart. Could have done with some more polish but it's fine for a jam game.
Aw thank you for the kind words. Yeah def a game where I spent a lot of time coding and less time polishing. I appreciate the feedback!
Fun use of the theme and a killer soundtrack. Good going!
Thank you very much!
Haha I enjoyed the music. I wish it was expanded a bit more.
Sound design was cute and fit so well.
Love the concept and the game was very fun to play! Thanks for this.
The growing and shrinking mechanic was really interesting. I love the character and enemy designs.
Personally I'm not a big fan of the bullet sectios, I can struggle with fast reaction speeds and so that caused some frustration at times. I also think the difficulty and teaching curve ned a lot of work, there were a few points where I probably would have given up with the game if not able to get some help because mechanics were not explained.
However I did enjoy the base premise and think this would work really well with some level tweaks and some polish.
Cute game! Having the powers affect both the player and the objects was really interesting! Would love to see a bit more level design-wise, but awesome job otherwise! :)
Thank you very much. I appreciate it! Yeah the level design stuff was def something I wanted to spend way more time on.
Fun concept with a cute presentation (I really enjoyed the background music). I really like how you wove the tutorial into the gameplay. Puzzles were satisfying, but evading enemy projectiles ended up being more difficult than I think was intended.
Yeaaaah they def turned out harder than expected. Thank you for playing and the comment!
Wonderful use of the concept, totally awesome platforming mechanic. And as always, the sounds and music are brilliant. This could be a full game. Thanks :D
Haha ty ty.
Awesome game concept! I enjoyed the mechanics and the level design was very clever.
Thank you for the kind words! I am glad you enjoyed it.
