That's a pretty cool movement pattern! I think the level design could have worked a little more in the favor of that, as I didn't need to jump a single time. The style is pretty cool, but could maybe be a little more consistent; I think it would be fine to have one element pop from the black-and-white background, but I'm not sure about the lasers, for example. Still, all in all, I had a pretty good time with this one, well done!
It was difficult to balance the movement. Typically you have to use the jump after you died since the respawn resets the player size to a certain size. If you however never die, then you gain typically more size than needed, this is also the case if you would skip some of the jumps. But decreasing the size when a player touches a checkpoint or adapting the size with the game progress also seemed wrong. I am not sure how to solve that problem, so I ended up making the game easier for players who play the game flawless. And style of the lasers is not fitting tbh, but I just created a animation in a quick and dirty manner to have at least some kind of animation, since a singular sprite would look weird.
But thank you for the critisism and for playing the game! Do you have a Idea on how the player should be scaled per checkpoint? (Other than dividing the game into levels)
The way you move is horribly terrifying and very satisfying at the same time, really cool game!
It was my first time doing this kind of procudural/calculated animations. I am happy that you like it.
Yeah, this is terrifying ! Great art and mechanics, the game is really clean, congrats !
Thank you for playing my game. I am glad to see that you enjoy it!
Fun game, really love the sound when you touch a checkpoint also the movement really reminds me of the plantera boss from terraria
Thank you, I struggled a lot with making a checkpoint sound since generating a retro-type sound was kind of difficult. I ended up speaking into my microphone and changing the pitch of the audio clip in unity. XD
Super creepy, loved the music. Mechanics were fun and showed a lot of promise, I like the thought of a cutesy plant with The Thing tentacles crawling around.
Thank you!
I think it is really weird, but also interesting how a combination of cute and horrific elements often make some things even more terrifying.
Don't mess with Tiffany haha. Really fun game!
Thank you for playing!
Good and slight weird, movement reminded of Carrion. Good job, and good luck!
Is it worth it to play Carrion? (I've only seen a few clips of it)
It's a bit on the gruesome side, but kinda fun. Drags a bit because of the exploration and some puzzles though, but is is also short (5 hours or so)
Tiffany may haunt my dreams. Well done!
Tiffany is actually my houseplant. But I havent seen her in two days. I wonder where she is now...
This when Carrion plays a role in undertale lol.
But you really make a difference. The Carrion's movement contains no gameplay but this one do! I always value the mechanics that make the player busy!
I am not sure why, but I also just had to think about that flower from Undertale, when I was creating the sprite.
And I cant wave the gooballs out of my mind creating my character lol
XD
Interesting and fun movement mechanics. Although I didn't really understand the jump mechanic.
Thank you for playing!
If you are near a wall you can jump in the direction your mouse is pointing. Simultaneously it makes you smaller.
fun little game! enjoyed the procedural animation and concept, really nice! :D
tiffany conquered....
Fun controls and really neat music with those almost blast beats mixed in there and discordant vibes. The jump seems like it doesn't work all the time and I can't figure out why. It'd be more fun with more interesting obstacles.
Thank you for playing the game! Well the jump only works if you are in the range of a wall, and it sometimes is tricky to pull of when you are close to the edge. The music was inspired by Dungeon Synth / Tänzelcore style music and it hopefully gave you an uncanny feeling (it is a weird black metal subgenre (which kind of came from some dudes making intros for their black metal songs)).
I've never heard of that genre, that's really cool. It definitely had an uncanny feeling!
Really like the style love it !
really creative idea with the scale up, I can see in the levels animation was spent some time on.
and thanks for your feedback on my game
The core gamplay is very fun i think you can scale up the movement speed for more fun
Good point. I am still not quite sure what gamefeel is right for the context of the game.
Very cool game, I really like the range increase and the way the plant moves reminded me a little of Carrion.
Short but sweet, the game is fun to control, good job!
Thank you! I couldn't remember the name of Carrion, but I head that idea in mind.
Oooh, that was fun! The movement is intuitive, the level is readable, and the art is charming. The animations of the tentacles are perfectly gross-looking, especially at higher power levels. Great work!
Thank you! The procedural animations took more time in the making than I expected.
