VERDICT📝
So, the first thing to point out here is that the author openly admits that this was the first-ever game jam and a 1 person team. With that in mind, it’s super impressive. It’s playable, I love the art, and I like the king riding the bee. That being said, the execution leaves a lot to be desired. I’m unsure what pretty much everything in the game actually did. I kept unlocking these cute abilities, but they didn’t seem to actually do anything. My player leveled up, but I didn’t seem to notice any difference. Even the combat and gold bars had no functional purpose. Really the only part of the game that felt like a game was reading all of the little event prompts, and even those were pretty incomprehensible. Also, the music abruptly stopped looping.
All that being said, the game still probably would’ve been pretty fun if it wasn’t for the camera movement. The fact that you can click on yourself as a movement destination is pretty rough. This was an extremely ambitious game, but ambition in a game is only a good thing if you can pull it off. The biggest advice I would give to this developer is to finish 1 system before implementing another. I’d rather have one system that works than 5 half-baked ones.
Really neat game, but the character could be moving a bit faster
I like the low poly and rpg style, but moving the character with the camera got me frustrated quite a lot
Hello! The movement and camera were indeed the weak part, sorry for bad experience :c
Still, thanks for playing.)
Oh wow this is clearly an ambitious game even if there's some jank, i think the character moves maybe a bit too slow. But the concept is quite original and i think has potential
Hello! I'll consider the movement speed, thank you for pointing out. And thank you for playing!
Super cute and unique! I think I maxed everything out. The powerups/abilities were really a fun addition
Thank you for kind words! I hope the abilities weren't too buggy during your playtrough (the second one with the bee icon sometimes doesn't work properly for some reason).
Graphics and music are great, sadly when music finished it never returned. As was already said movement and camera being on mouse isnt the best idea. I think it would help if you could use camera only when you press something like scroll-wheel, or make camera top down stationary. Choices were original and quite fun, but i think there should be punishment for not having any coins/army, maybe adding 3 stats - popularity, army, money, where you would try to balance them each choice forcing you to sacrifice something but getting something in return and if you are unable to balance them you would lose. Good game, love the visuals, you did well. :)
Thank you for your comment! The camera and movement issue is already considered, but thank you for pointing it out again.
As for choices, in fact there is punishment for not having enough parameters - it should decrease your kingdom level if you don't balance them out, but there is some bug, when the punishment is gone xd. The third stat was indeed in plans, but I did end up scraping it for the sake of finishing a game in somewhat state and adding more events.
Thank you again! ^_^
I like the visual style of the game, and playing as what looked like the Bee King has a certain charm to it. I will say that the mouse being used as a pointer, as well the camera control was a bit difficult.
Yeah, I guess I should've spend a bit more time on movement part, sorry if you had troubles. Still, thank you for playing and commenting! :)
great looking game, having the camera and the movement set to mouse movement made it a bit difficult to get the hang of moving around. WASD for camera movement would fix this issue. I am sure with more time this game could be great. Looks beautiful, and I really see a great concept here. 4/5
Thank you for playing and for your comment! I will for sure reconsider camera movement in the future.
The movement is a bit awkward and unusual. It gave me headaches. For the rest, the game was a little hard to understand. I did not understand the consequences of my choices. The pathfinding is a bit bugged, sometimes my character would go backwards.
I like the creativity, I love most of the art, I loved the music.
Well done !
Thank you for your comment! Yeah, i didn't have time to manage all the tips for the player, sorry for that. About the pathfinding, I didn't figure out why it was doing such things. Despite all that, thank you for playing!
