I really enjoyed playing it - first few minutes were confusing, but once I got a hold of it, I loved the old-school controls (moving the cat rather than just clicking on the UI). I think it perfectly fits the theme and with a bit more of time could become an incredible idle kind of game, with a funny twist. What I lacked the most is that you don't get to see any snakes though :D Good job!
I find it creative that you have to move a figure to get to choose the actions you want to take. Also nice game story. A ted simple perhaps, but i am sure that's also because of the deadline of the jam.
Cute game! There are quite a few cool mechanics and the level design and aesthetic is super cool. With more content this could be fleshed out into a really solid game! Great job!
CAT KVLT <3 <3 <3
I really like the aesthetic of your game, it was too short to fully enjoy :/
We didn’t want to drag the game out too much, but I appreciate the feedback :)
Very exciting premise. Would make a great writing prompt, possibly for a novel exploring the psychology and sociopolitics of a cat starting a cult for snakes who want to have legs. If the game actually showed anything described on the game page, it would be 10 out of 10, but sadly, it's more like an excel spreadsheet with platforming thrown in. I haven't seen a single snake in the game, which is disappointing even in games whose developers don't promise snakes at all.
Unfortunately, there are no visible snakes (we ran out of time :< ), but there are references to them in the upgrades/expeditions. As for the description's accuracy, I don't know what you're talking about, there's dark humor and average gameplay, so it matches :). But yes, as you said, its a bit like an spreadsheet, that's true xD.
I have to admit, nothing about the description is untrue. And the flavor text is all very nice too. I can 100% get behind adding weird creatures to your game for the heck of it! It's too bad the screenshots show pretty much the entire game, but I was pleasantly surprised by the expeditions! How many of them are there in total? I went on four before finishing the game in 55 days, and one of them repeated. Regardless, adding one of those to the screenshots would be a good idea, to reassure the players they haven't seen the entire game 10 seconds in!
After my initial disappointment, I gave it another try and enjoyed the entire game - I could always just imagine any of the missing detail! I wish your team a lot of success in gamedev, so that one day you can make high budget videogames about cats recruiting snakes into cults :P
I'm glad you came around! There are a total of 3 expeditions (there were supposed to be more, but we ran out of time, and I didn't want to use AI to avoid breaking the jam's rules). I’ll definitely be adding that screenshot of the expeditions soon. By the way, the image you see in the expedition menu was made by me :). The whole team also wishes you a successful career!
I love cats, maybe not cults though. lol
