Very clever idea! I like the fact you have to roll well to get further and further into the game :) I managed to complete it, like people have mentioned a grid system would work well - I found a good video to implement that with our game called "Grid Based Movement in Unity" by gameplusjames on Youtube. Well done on a great game jam game!!

Ditto the other comments, I think this game would really benefit from a more rigid grid system for the player to move around in, and I think another twist alongside the random bonus moves would really  complete everything. I do really like the concept, though: a maze game where you have to be conservative with your steps is the kind of idea you could really nicely flesh out. A really cool effort, and I love the player character – very characterful art!

Loved the idea, but movement mechanics makes it hard to play. Might work better with discrete steps

The game is cool looking and the music is good but most the time I lost due to RNG. The mechanics need some work other than that it is good

I like the attempt, but the game was kinda impossible. Most of the runs you lose almost instantly due to RNG and that feels incredibly unsatisfying unfortunately. The game runs well, the assets look nice, and the music slaps, but the mechanics do need some work.

interesting concept, but is the camera broken on level 2? i cant solve it

Developer

is the camera broken on level 2?

Looks good! I guess that only luck determines if you succeed in life, very deep.

I find glitches in games amusing and I love the extra step you can take after you die.

I had the same problem with the glitchy camera in Unity. I don't know the real fix, but you can change the editor view to fixed 16:9 instead of the default. This will not fix the screen but whatever you see in the editor is what will be seen in the exported version and you can plan accordingly.

Developer

Thanks for the help with the camera! I'll definitly use that from now on! (:

I like the art style and the idea of watching the number of steps you have.

However I feel when I lose, it's often not my fault, because it's directly tied to RNG. When a roll of the die can determine of you live or die (no pun intended) there is not much strategy to apply. Also I don't know what to do in the second screen. I've tried walking to the left but nothing happened. I can also walk over water. Is that intended?

Developer

It wasn't intendet that you cant see anything.  but sadly the camera glitched when i exportet the game.

I see, that's too bad! Keep up the good work!

Great job! Restricting movement to randomness is a really intriguing concept! Nice job!
