How does your game fit the theme?
Roll and acquire dice to navigate the dungeon, and the player looks like one too! Enemy movements are based on a 4-sided die, and the level design is influenced by the probability of movements.

A bit hard to get the key on bad rolls, but otherwise very fun

Developer

Glad you enjoyed playing! Picking up more dice gives you better odds of getting the roll you need (not to mention higher chances of free rolls on doubles).

This is a fun concept! One way that I feel can fix some of the things mentioned below would be to remove the limited dice roll and just count the number of times rolled overall as a 'score' to show at the end of the game. Overall a really neat game!

Fun fact: I also used the same dice animation asset in my game haha

Developer

I'm so glad you enjoyed playing! And thank you for the constructive criticism, I like your idea of the score, maybe there can be a score relative to some par value, so you can be rated against the design. And it's a great asset haha! I'm excited to see it in action on your game

I think I agree with HallwayGames below. I liked the general presentation of the game and the feel of it, the randomness is ok and appealing but I found the movement of the enemies unpredictable and frustrating. It'd be great if players had more control and could strategize better (the limited amount of rolls might be detrimental?). Anyways, good job!

Thank you for playing and glad you enjoyed it! Seems like a lot of people feel this way haha, maybe the game is too punishing, but I did want to have a bit of luck involved in playing given the theme. There's no gambling-puzzle category on Itch though :D

Hey, great job! The art and audio was very well put together, and the core gameplay loop is really cool!

I also loved all the little animations!

Feedback:
- I found the enemies quite frustrating to play around, combined with the limited dice rolls.
Because of the limited dice rolls you don't want to waste turns playing cautiously, if the enemy may NOT block your path.

I feel like a cool alternative to that would be to show you exactly where the enemy is going to move, before you decide on where you will move. This will still force you to play very strategic because of your limited dice rolls.

Regardless, the game was great, fantastic job. Keep up the amazing work!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed playing. I appreciate the feedback! I am thinking a little more about the enemy behavior now, but I did try to strike a balance between the randomness of their movement and other concepts. For example, their movement is based on a d4 die, so they have a higher chance of rolling low. Also, what are your thoughts on getting free rolls by rolling doubles? I thought that would incentivize going after all three dice in the third level so you could play more cautiously. I could also increase the roll limits I suppose :D

I think the doubles idea is good!

Although it's hard to play around in any meaningful way, so it just slightly incentivises grabbing extra dice. But there is already huge incentive to grab extra dice, to help get the right paths, especially when you can walk past hallways.

Developer

Hmm fair point .. I will think on this and get back to you!

Love the art and sound effects! The random movement of the enemy is a little punishing, since you can't anticipate it, but I liked some of the strategy in picking which direction to move based on the value that was rolled. Nice job!

Developer

Thank you so much, really glad you enjoyed playing the game!

To help with combating a randomly moving enemy, try thinking less about where they will move and instead focus on where they can move! And be sure pick up extra dice to give you more movement options (and a higher chance at getting free rolls).

Good luck!
