How does your game fit the theme?
In "World Explorer" each time you fail player's and planet's statistics change making it more difficult to complete your goal. In other words, every time you play the game you roll a dice which decides for example if you will jump higher or lower.

Dang, I couldn't get this game to load, Looked really cool though

Unfortunately it was already too late, when I realized the web version wasn't working :/, however if you want to play it you can still download it I think this game turned out not as bad as I thought it would, although it definietly lacks a tutorial.

Nice game! The concept is interesting however it could use some work because it's a pain to get terrible stats. I'd love to see if you made an upgraded version!

Developer (1 edit)

I am glad you enjoyed my game! I haven't started working on an upgraded version yet, but I am planning to start next weekend. I don't think I will add too much though, instead I want to try to develop other types of games so I can learn how to make them before the summer break is over and I will have less time for game development because of school. However, as soon as I finish the final version I will post it right here so if you are interested in checking it out consider following me. Thanks for the comment and have a glorious day :)

I think I will! Hope that everything goes well for you!

Thank you :)

I would have really liked a tutorial explaining the mechanics more clearly, I don't know if there was a way to attack the drones or something because I kept dying and I didn't see any way to progress. Also the collision detection could use some work, I kept getting stuck in mid-air every time I hit a platform while jumping

I am glad you tried out my game! There is no way to defeat the robots, if there was I would write about it in the [MAIN MENU -> INFO -> CONTROLS] section. As a player, all you can do against their attacks is avoid them. In order to progress further in the game you need to find the right path that will lead you to the magical artifact you need to collect so you can win the game. Also I know about the bug which allows the player to stick to walls but I didn't think it was a big issue so instead I decided to focus on finishing the game since that was my first ever game jam and I wanted my game to be finished on time. Thanks for the comment and have an excellent day :)

Was waiting for several minutes before read that the web version isn't working :D

the vibe of the game is truly amazing but I am lacking a predefined detailed tutorial )

Apart from this, the game is awesome - nice job!

I am glad you liked my game! I wasn't sure if the "Note: Web version doesn't work!" text is visible enough but now I decided to make it bold so now hopefully everybody sees it and won't wait for the game to load :D. Almost everybody says this game lacks a tutorial and I agree so I decided to write the [INTERCOM] section which serves as a mix between a tutorial telling the player what to watch out for and a message to the player's character which reveals parts of the simple story of this game. Thanks for the comment and have a magnificent day :)

Okay so:

First of all, I think the concept is pretty cool and the atmosphere fits well to the game.

However I think there are a lot of things here that could've been done better. I totally understand that it's hard to make a game in 50 hours but these are some things you might want to improve in the future:

- There is no tutorial and a lot of things seem confusing.
- When you get hit you hardly notice. I only realised after my 10th try, that i kept dying by touching rocks.
- Once you got through some enemies, there is a part where you need to jump over a diagonal block. Jumping over it seems impossible with most jump stats. Making it impossible to finish the game with some stats is obviously not good.

Once again, I know 50 hours isn't a lot, but for the future I'd reccomend you to make less content but then polish that content a lot more.

I am glad you tried out my game!

- I got quite a few comments telling me this game lacks a tutorial and I couldn't agree more. It definietely may seem very confusing at first and I was actually planning on making one but I had to give up on this idea because I was running out of time, however next time I will try my best to include a tutorial.
- To warn the player about the dangers of rocks I planned on adding a sound effect that would play everytime the player takes some damage, but again I ran out of time and I only managed to add some music and a jump sound effect.
- I know which part of the level you are talking about and yes I also noticed it can be quite difficult and sometimes impossible to pass it with some jump, mass and gravity stats. Unfortunately I realized that only after I submitted my game and I couldn't submit another build anymore.

Thanks for the detailed comment, I will make sure to use my time more wisely next time and try to focus more on making my gameplay more enjoyable. Have an incredible day :)

That's good to hear. When it comes to a tutorial, you can always just explain things on the itch page if necesary, since that page can be updated even during the voting time (So you can still change it right now). A simple text that explains you have health and oxygon that runs out over time and that you need to dodge enemies and rocks would have already be very helpful.

Actually writing a tutorial on the page might be a good idea I didn't think about that before, I am going to write one in a moment, thanks :)

Would be handy to have a tutorial level but apart from that I find the game enjoyable to play

Developer

I am glad you enjoyed my game! I know that my game lacks a tutorial and that is because unfortunately I ran out of time to add one. I wanted to make sure my game is enjoyable and fully complete so I focused on that first and it seems like a lot of people really enjoy it which I am very glad to hear. Thanks for the comment and have a good day :)

Very nice, the background is a bit trippy and the envoriment could be a bit brighter. I like the character and the enemy design. (Is the character a human with no legs or a robot breathing oxygen????) I like the random stats idea even tho its not really too noticable in game. Love the music, pretty cool stuff.

Also ligma22-B is a cool name for a planet we should name one like that irl.

Developer(+1)

I am glad you liked my game! The background is very dark I know, but that is because I wanted to make the player think as if they are the astronaut and are wearing this helmet that slightly darkens their vision. Also it is dark because it is nighttime and I felt like the environment was so bright it just did not match. The character is a human (or I guess you can call him a cyborg) named Joe who really wanted to explore the universe but a tragic accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. However Joe didn't give up on his dreams and replaced his legs with a special robotic mechanism that allowed him to jump twice as high as other people. It had one downside though. Joe's new legs were highly vulnerable to rocks but either way he got hired at NASA and was sent on a mission to an unusual planet to gather information and try to collect the magic artifact knows as "The Cube of Gods" that weirdly enough resembles a dice. And now you as a player try to complete Joe's mission and fulfill his dreams of exploring the world. And that is the story of Joe.  Also I agree the planet's name is quite unique maybe we will name a planet like that someday. Thanks for the comment and have a wonderful day :)

The lore of Joe is quite captivating indeed.

Gives great space feeling with the art and bg music, game was fun to play.

Good Job!

I am glad you enjoyed my game! I tried my best to replicate the feeling of exploring a very strange and unique planet that seems to come from another world and honestly I really like how it turned out. Thanks for the comment and have an awesome day :)

Nice space vibes, wanted to be able to kill the enemies. But overall a very nice game!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I am glad you liked my game! It was my first ever game jam and I wanted to make sure my game is fully finished before the deadline that is why I decided to give up on any combat and instead focused on building a map for the player to explore. Thanks for the comment and have a great day :)

I found myself confused even after reading instructions... Seems like a lot of systems are happening in the background, might be a good idea to create a hand made level to teach players about the mechanics before letting them explore the randomly generated planet.

Developer (1 edit)

I am glad you tried out my game! I get that my game may seem confusing at first since there are no clear instructions, for example on how to avoid enemies and where to go, however I thought it would be a good idea to let the player explore the planet and learn from the mistakes all on your own. Although I agree that making a tutorial isn't a bad idea and I was actually planning on creating it but I ran out of time and I decided to give up on this idea. Thanks for the comment and have a fantastic day :)
