I really like the concept and I think if more time was given, this game could have good potential. I like the music and combat. Although I found the controls and abilities quite difficult to understand and use, after a few attempts I got the hang of it and it felt pretty satisfying beating it. Overall, it's a fun and challenging game.
I think with a good learning curve/tutorial baked into it, this game could be on its way towards launch. Good stuff!
Do check out our game too :)https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-jam-2022/rate/1616966
When will the tyranny of big dice over that of small dice end...
It's all in your hands!
I was a bit confused by the timer that took 100 seconds for a minute, but other than that: Solid game :)
Haha, yeah. The timer was a last hour addition and I haven't tested it properly. It was just a matter of time for someone to notice that.
Very interesting puzzle game! I would say the learning curve is pretty steep though. It would be nice if there was something in game to tell you what each side does. Overall very well done!
It was a little difficult, but I love the concept! Super original, and nail-bitingly fun once I understood what was happening
I really like the idea of the game! It took me a while to understand at first, but once I got the hang of it, the game opened up a lot. I really like the idea of planning which sides to use when in order to attack, while also dodge the boss's attacks. The only thing that I would recommend is a free-moving camera, because I sometimes forget which side is facing away from the camera, and turn to the wrong one in a pinch (or maybe this was on purpose, as you can just memorize the orientation of a D6 anyways lol).
Very nice game and unique concept! Maybe a bit too difficult, to make it a bit easier it would be nice if you could control the direction in which abilities are cast.
The music synced with the movement is cool. Knowing which direction was the front of my dice was a little hard. But I love the concept of the game. It's like one of those games where you have to roll a block around to fit it into a hole. Except an awesome boss fight. Sort of a bad explanation, but I just think it's cool.
A great idea. I really liked the synced up music with the movement. It was hard to hit the enemy with the laser though. I enjoyed this game.
Interesting concept a versus dice fighting, I like the idea!
What I liked?
- The concept which is quite original
- The different capacities linked to the number of the top side, it is clever!
Other comments:
- I found the attacks a bit too hard to aim correctly, especially the laser
- The SFX which triggers when you move, I found it a bit annoying
Overall good job!
Thanks for the comment! Surprised you didn't like the movement notes but to each their own.
I really like it. Forced me think carefully about my positioning and movement. Gradually figuring out the mechanics and slaying the fabled Rhombicuboctahedron was very satisfying. The presentation is simple and effective. The game is a good show of design competence, and the character's movement playing notes to the song is a yummy tasty extra detail that I really appreciate.
Thanks! I'm glad you found the combat satisfying.
Super cool, but way too hard for a game jam game
Sorry, can't help myself. I simply love challenging games. Thanks for the comment!
I could not for the life of me figure out any coherent strategy here lol
The idea, mechanics, and presentation were really excellent here. But after a dozen or so tries I could only ever get one hit on the enemy per turn. I think what ultimately made it really difficult was that all of the attacks were single-dot-facing, and I could just never line up anything with that dot before I died.
5/5 stars for having the roll SFX match the music though, a beautiful touch!
Hey. The game's designed to be challenging so it's OK to struggle at first. I know I did. The controls take some time to get used to but there are definitely strategies to discover. Glad you liked the music. Thanks for the comment!
