This is funny, but I don't like such jokes here at jams.

Please forgive me Dani Davito

Are you planning to release a GOTY edition?

Developer

Yes, and two remasters a year

Submitted(+1)

This game should be nominated for a BAFTA. I haven't cried this much since Outer Wilds. When will you release the DLC?

Developer(+1)

LMAO, think I'm gonna clinch Best Documentary

DLC is located in your local alleyway

Submitted(+1)

Yeah memorable characters, such as Wojak, Wojak, Wojak, Wojak and Trollface himself.

Really funny, I recommend it.

Developer

It was important for me to feature a wide range of personalities

I AM READY TO PLAY DICE IN REAL LIFE!!! **SHANK**

Good one

The game is very relatable. I also once asked someone about the bus station, and they started rolling some dice. I immediately started running in the opposite direction after he started waving his kitchen knife in my face. I guess that's a casual interaction in the UK.

Pretty fun!

Accurate depiction of what it feels like to gamble in a back alley. You really feel like your life is being controlled by plastic cubes.

Anyway, all jokes aside, I'm not sure how I feel about this as a jam submission, considering that the games are intended for a general audience (the excessive shanking might be a little questionable) and that there's not much gameplay (besides clicking buttons, rolling dice, and letting RNG determine your fate).

Still, that doesn't make it any less funny or creative. This is definitely the last thing that I expected to come out of the jam, and I will say that after playing this game and reading the comments, that I don't think I laughed quite as hard as I did in a while. Good job.

About half way through development, I checked the "Can I make...?" section of the jam rules to see if this would even be allowed. I was skeptical myself, but sometimes an idea just kind of evolves on its own, and with not a lot of time, it was this or nothing.

At the end of the day, it seems like a lot of people had a fun time with it. Even if this game is a bit too crass for the intended general audience of the jam (and may disqualify from being shown in the final video), the fact that it is able to make people laugh and enjoy themselves is why I love making games in the first place, so getting the positive response it's been getting is more than I could have ever asked for.

Also, I wonder how much RNG is really determining your fate here... :)

11/10, the ending where my dead wife came back to life made me cry.

This game touched my heart, truly a revolutionary game. This game has a really creative concept combined with awesome graphics and fantastic humour, 10/10 would play again in real life. Stunning work!

We have entered the post-Back Alley Dice Rolling Simulator '22 era of game design

With just seeing the cover image, I already know I'm in for a fun time. And boy does it deliver, this reminds me of the days with my friends playing dice together.

This better be in the top 20, or I'll help you find other ways to win.

Pretty fun game but I heard that the studio is going to get bought out by EA. Lets hope they can keep that creative spark that made this gem what it is.

Developer

Update (1.1):

  • Ad plays after every roll
  • Purchase Deluxe Edition ($70) to unlock original soundtrack
  • Use gems to upgrade Shivs (10 gems = $100 USD)
  • Legendary Shiv (40 gems) required to beat final boss

This type of game and its writing are so perfect for a short streamer playthrough so I hope you get Mark to play this live at some point. I think I was laughing for the first 3 minutes I was playing because of your PNG graphics and meme culture (the music adds so much charm). Genuinely my only complaint is the way that you incorporated the main theme of rolling dice and how there isn't too much player agency. Offering the multiple choices felt so nice and offered depth that other games can't show for so I wish there was more of that. I was hoping for a final boss fight where you have to avoid shanks as you are preparing to roll the dice, but that's what sequels are for amirite? Thank you for the laughs and I'm looking forward to your next game if it is anything like this one.

I've loved all of the funny comments so far but I really appreciate you providing some constructive criticism here.

I definitely wish I had more time to introduce more dialog options / choices, even the text for those choices. And I also originally wanted the final "boss" to be more involved, potentially have a gun or something. And I think avoiding shanks during rolling, to add some progression to the rolling portion of the game is a great idea, and would prevent it from being just the same situation multiple times. Really great ideas here, and glad you had some laughs with it!

If Markiplier actually ends up playing this game I will know for sure this is all just a simulation. Your mere proposal of that idea makes me giddy. Fingers crossed!
