this had a fun mysterious vibe. great job on the player sprite, as well as meshing it with a wide range of disparate open art assets. that can be very tough. the music sold the atmosphere as well. there was a point where i kind of just got stuck and couldn't get out of an area, but i'm not sure if there was more gameplay designed at this point beyond just getting as many crystals as i could. i could see this evolving into some sort of bleak underwater metroidvania sort of experience. very cool!

It was a nice game over all, I just had problem with managing my energy between crystals. Also was expecting the Fish to attack but they just stared at me and blocked my path XD

Developer

Thanks! Haha, yeah people have been telling me that its a bit hard to manage that. And yeah the fish just block your path cause i thought it would be a bit too much having to deal with the timer and fish attacking, so they are just there to block you and make things a bit harder with the timer.

Really like the diving - mech design !

and overall assets you chose to go with it seem pretty cohesive as well, the music fits the underwater mood pretty well too.

I'd say some of the small issues i found were, some jumps felt a bit hard as in you sometimes barely cross the gap, and the recharge spots sometimes feel a bit far appart for the 15 sec you give to reach them. the only technical issue i encountered was that after dying when i respawned the sprite animation was frozen for a bit then fixed itself when i stopped and walked again.

That being said, this has some strong base to it and was fun to play, in a way the fact that it has an underwater theme and that you leap between recharge spots kinda reminded me of ecco the dolphin in some way ^^

Developer

Thanks a lot! Honestly that was the first time i even tried to make a mech design like that, so i am also a bit proud of how it came out. I tried as much as i could to grab cohesive assets, and when making the mech i tried to match the other styles.

Yeah the jumps have problems, especially when getting on platforms. I tested  the distance between the recharge spots when positioning them, but i guess i forgot the important point of since i knew where they were, i had an advantage over everyone else to reach them. Its for sure one thing i will pay more attention in the future.

Ah probably a problem with the state machine i did not calling the animation... i noticed some of these freezes specially when shooting and walking, tried to fix most but ran out of time to fix all. I am glad you enjoyed the game, as i was very worried it would be a bit boring to play.  Gosh, now that you say that it does remind me a bit of Ecco too lol.

Cool graphics and a very fun game! I liked how the atmospheric music made you feel like you were under water! Nice!

thanks a lot! I am really glad hearing people say the game is fun, i was very worried it would be boring. Also good to know the music was fitting, i didn't have much time to look for music and audio.

love this game

Developer

Thanks! I am glad you liked it.

Liked the Game. it could use a checkpoint system, like keeping the crystals that you have gathered, once you get to the middle again. Also when you go right, and then left into the pit. I couldnt get out of there (after gathering the crystalls in that area)

Developer

thanks a lot for playing! Not having a checkpoint was intentional to give the challenge to collect all gems in one go, since it's a short game it felt ok to do it. if it was a longer game i would definitely agree with you that the checkpoint is needed.  And yes that's a path with no return so it's necessary to collect the gems on the other areas first.  Though i agree this is not a good design, just ran out of time to adjust the level.

Very nice graphics and sound effects and music were very atmospheric. I think, that projectile could be a bit faster than movement of player. Nice work :)

Thanks! And yes I completely agree... it was one of those things I said "i will fix it later" and ran out of time to actually fix it.
