Very impressive :D Well balanced, very nice art style, could use some better UI but the main mechanic works great!

Pretty cool game with interesting idea. It has a lot of potential to be honest. Great job :D

Really well done! With some polish and music this will do really well, I hope you add to it after the jam.

Very nice and quite impressive for such a short timeframe! I got to wave 5 :D I agree with the movement indicator and ability to cancel a card that was mentioned in another comment. A few other suggestions:

  • Add a max health indicator, like 3/5
  • Add a way to read the whole card. This is needed when some cards are first/last on your hand, and some of their text is cut off the screen.

Lots of fun! I enjoy deckbuilders, and this was a nice simple one with good variety. Sound effects were decent, but I'd love to hear some music. If music isn't your thing, I recommend checking out #team-up next time for a musician. There are usually a good number of musicians willing to contribute, and that kind of contribution doesn't require nearly as much back-and-forth as some other contributions (e.g., art).

Room for improvement: text was really small, especially the health indicator. I would like a way to undo my last action. Sometimes I click something by accident. A visual indicator of the different ranges would also help: knowing the card gives me 2 movement is great, but if I don't know how far that is until I use the card, that's less useful.

Thank you, this was a really helpful critique! Next time I will definitely check out #team-up for music, that is a  great suggestion.

I agree with all your improvement points, most of my choices were supposed to be placeholder and I never came back and changed them. Implementing an undo button and some visual indications BEFORE playing cards will require some reasonable re-factoring of the code but sounds like a good challenge!

Cool implementation of a combination of some of my favorite types of games! A little more polish would really take it to the next level.

Love your artwork, especially the cards.

Very cool idea for the game.

I don't think I've seen those mechanics combined in quite this way before.

Nice job!

You have a really nice game brewing here.

Add some balancing and polish and I could see myself playing it for a few hours. I have lost track of time while playing it, it's so hooking and enjoyable :)

That's really encouraging, thank you!!

Deck building is fun and I enjoyed it! More card variety would be nice, but it works well already.  I like the turn system and it looks well polished. Nice game!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it. I agree about the card variety, I really wanted to get more in there that would allow for some cool combos, as well as maybe some poison effects and moving the enemies around some more. Thanks for the feedback

Happy to see a deck building game!

I was surprised to die so suddenly :D.

Developer

Yeah I probably need to add a more obvious warning when you get low on health as the tiny number in the top left is not very helpful

Deckbuilding games are really fun and I was pretty excited to see the thumbnail of this one! Turns out it's a fun little game for sure! I really like how turns work and think there's a lot of ways the player can use those opportunities.

Developer

Thanks, deckbuilders are fun although I found it a challenge to code up the card mechanics in a decent way. Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for commenting!
