nice little game, good job! i ended up stuck on level 6, after dying and retrying the level. all my bullets were still around, the "boss" reappeared but didn't spawn any enemies, and killing it didn't unlock the exit.

still, a great jam game! congrats on your first! :)

Developer(+1)

Oh No! you actually discovered that spaghetti code bug which appeared once during my playtesting and tried hard to reproduce , but couldn’t .

Sorry for robbing you from the epilogue which was level 7 :(

Thanks for playing.

had a lot of fun beating the game, it was fun, enjoyable, and original. game felt complete, dialogs were silly and funny.

one note: rats were getting stuck all the time, to avoid that, i suggest using 'Navigation2D' it's pretty simple to set up and use, once you have set it up (there are plenty of tutorials online) you can write something like

'var direction = ( nav.get_simple_path(global_position, player.global_position)[1] - global_position ).normalized()' in the enemy code

Hey ,thanks for playing and the inputs .

I will add Navigation2D to my knowledge base checklist.

Autotile is one hell of a feature Godot offers.

Nice job! The pacing of each level is well thought out as well.

It's fun trying to make bounce trick shots on all the enemies. Cool how you sort of create your own bullet hell since the fireballs stay after death

Developer(+1)

Thanks. That was the gist of it , you want top down precision shooter , be it so .If you want bullet hell , have at thee!

I did have fun creating lot of mess during playtesting.

I thought this was a cool bullet hell, but no, it was a cool top-down shooter mixed in wth bullet hell instead. To be hoest though, I do love that you can play as the devil after failing (though the devil might be too strong), and I think that this game would benefit a lot from more progression such as an upgrade system, or scaling AI as you mentioned in the comments.

Developer

Thanks for playing and feedback :)

I do agree that the concept can benefit a lot from progression system and level difficulty scaling.

With me getting to know about the Jam after 5-6 days of its theme announcement and having a 9-5 , this was all I could fit in. But, with all the feedback I have received and ideas that I could accumulate, have high hopes for upcoming jams.

Damn, that's really great that you accomplished so much then. I look forward to your next game!

Hey I like the fireballs in this game alot it's cool how they bounce aganist the walls. I think when you are the devil though you sort of loose that effect as the mutliple fire balls hit into each other.
Regardless with both characters it's interesting to both shoot and dodge your own projectiles

Developer

Hey , thanks for playing . Glad you enjoyed it .

True that adding more bouncy physics to fireball would have made game more fun.
