The "scanner" feeling of the gameplay was very interesting!

Submitted(+1)

Very interesting idea! I wish gameplay was more fluid

Developer

Hey thanks for taking the time to feedback :)

What parts of the gameplay felt like they were not fluid?

Submitted

With more fluid I mean that you need to stop becouse the blackness makes you not undedrstand where to go! It might be cool to use light occlusion nodes  and some envoirement elements that are resilient ! So that the player knows that certain points / crystals/ rocks are there. I think that would improve the experience and let the player play in a more "fluid way" without needing to stop and understand where is he going and what does it need to do.
Other creatures make noize so they should be pretty much detectable without emitting wawes.
Any way the idea is cool. keep it up adding more features. And some puzzle envoirements.

Developer (1 edit)

thank you for elaborating those are some really great ideas.

I will definitely be testing out some of those as I develop the project :)

Very interesting. It was a nice idea with the theme. I like the ring around the bat and the indicator of which direction you would fire in.

very original, cool concept and really nice take on the theme! well done :)

very innovative and original, I liked it a lot

Really unique game mechanic ! I has a lot of potential.

As a I see it's your first jam right ?
My advice for future ones would be to make these kind of games level based and thus with an ending. It gets usually the player more invested in your game.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback :)
Any thoughts of what sort of changes you'd like to see in different levels?
Or what other sorts of environments other than caves would be appropritate for the bat for those levels?

Submitted(+1)

I think that different types of enemies would be nice. As for the environments I don't really have any ideas 😅

Submitted(+1)

I really like the sonar mechanic, and having to use it to reveal the environment. Very clever, I don't think I've seen something like that before. :)

Really unique concept! Felt like an inbetween of pacman (eating ghosts) and a topdown shooter. Using echo waves as the bat was super clever. Would be cool to see perhaps some sort of difficulty curve or stats at end of screen in the future!

Developer

Hey thanks for taking the time to check it out and feeding back :)

By difficulty curve do you mean the game getting harder over time? More slimes do spawn as time goes on but might be hard to notice
Any suggestions for how you would increase it?

As for the stats piece currently there is how long you survived and slimes you defeated, what other stats did you have in mind?

Submitted(+1)

Very original idea! Solid execution. I couldn't manage to survive terribly long, though :-)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback :)
I don't think I've ever gotten past even a few minutes, so I think it's on the harder side aha
Was there anything about the game that you thought made survival harder that it should have been?

Submitted

Nice theme and execution. The controls needed some getting used to because of the delay between the waves , otherwise fun game.

Developer

Hey thanks for the feedback :)

Would you prefer if after a sound wave is finished you are free to fire without any delay?

Submitted

I would say so . Its just that whatever the delay is , it takes some time to get used to. Sorry if I am not precise , but it shall be a balance between click spamming vs idling between waves.

Developer

I see what you mean - something that feels you can fire when you want to but you're not spamming space bar the whole time you play :)
I feel you on the hard to be precise (had the same when reviewing other games).
