Pretty fun game and well put together. I was enjoying progressing through but got stuck at level 3 (as I see others have too) -- I would be curious to know if it's something I just couldn't work out, or a mechanic I missed.
The glowing transition is great too, very satisfying when you know it's about to come and you've passed the level. :)
The ending was quite something, I think it summarizes everyone’s mental state at the end of the jam haha.
Nice game, the visuals were really pretty and the audio fitting! The herding mechanic did gave me Mount & Blade: Warband PTSD but that’s me haha.
Anyway, congrats! :)
Hahaha yes! I don’t know why, but the scary maze just seemed like the right thing to do. I was super losing it I think 😆
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback!
I made it to level 5, it was both fun and annoying in a good way, I liked it. Controlling 2 characters for this kind of game is a good idea. Level 5 felt softlocked, it was asking for 5 ghosts but I had 4.
Thank you for playing! The level design for level 5 isn’t great haha. It was suppose to have you believe that 5 ghosts are needed, but you can use other characters to unlock it too.
I super appreciate the feedback! 🤍
Oooh that's clever lol ! But it's also pretty inconsistent with how the game works until then so idk if it's good design. It's a game jam anyway so bold ideas like that are good to test. Wouldn't recommend it elsewhere though :)
Very original idea. I think herding ghosts as the grim reaper and his cat was super cute. I really liked the art style and the puzzles having to use a herd of a certain number to unlock areas. It was sometimes a little frustrating to get them to go where I wanted, but that's somewhat the point I guess. :)
Great job!
Aw thank you so much! I wanted it to be a little frustrating, but I think I overdid it haha. balancing mechanics is tricky 😆
Today I learned: Being a Grim Reaper is hard ^^; Liked the originality of the idea though as others have pointed out sometimes it was tricky to get the ghosts into the nooks. After level 4 or 5 however my cat was alone and I just needed to run through heaven’s door…until I reached the final “ending”. Not sure whether that was a bug or due to time restraints.
Anyway, thank you very much!
Yes, it definitely needs some tweaking haha. There was supposed to be a little bit of a story, where the demons killed the grim reaper in level 5 and left just the cat, and then the demons took over heaven so there were no souls to save. But I didn't do a great job storytelling 😅. Thank you so much for playing to the end!! I super appreciate you 🤍🤍
I’m glad the true master (i.e. the cat) survived :P
The art was good. Herding the cats (sorry, ghosts!) alternated between fun and frustrating. When it worked it was great fun, when it didn't, or my angle was slightly wrong, it didn't feel great.
Liked it overall, though!
I super appreciate the feedback! I totally agree. I think the herding needs a bit of tweaking, because yeah sometimes it's just completely infuriating. Thank you for playing! Just curious, how far did you make it through the game?
I'm pretty sure I made it to level 3 -- whatever one is after you getting the kitty-cat.
Simple, fun game with some polish. Nice tip about wikicommons for the music.
Thank you! And thanks for playing 🤍
Straightforward game and really simple mechanics. I thought you need to herd all the souls to the afterlife but you just needed 1... Took me until level 4 to realize hahah
Yeah, I didn't do a great job communicating that 😆. I wanted to add a leaderboard that had a score of some combination of the time it took to complete the game and the number of souls saved. But, yeah that didn't happen haha. Thank you for playing! 🤍 Did you happen to get to the end?
Loved the mechanics, but I got stumped on level 3. Probably something obvious I missed, or maybe something insidiously clever that I overlooked.
Thank you! And I'm sorry about level 3 😅. I have a lot (a lot a lot) to work on with level design. I really appreciate you playing!
