Beautiful graphics as others have said. And it's all really well put together, very polished look!

Similar to others though I found it very hard. For me it was having to control multiple things (movement, dash, and jump) all on the left hand, and still have to attack with the mouse. Since I'm not great at platformers I usually try to play movement on the right hand and attack etc. on the left and I can get by -- but in this case I was going to need the mouse to attack effectively!  😂

I think the tasks themselves were not out of my reach if the controls in my favour.. well that's what I'm telling myself anyway!

I liked the characters and audio too. Nice submission. :)

The thing is that you need to aim, so you need the mouse so unless you use the mouse on the left hand it's tricky.  However, I think maybe the best is to have also an "assist mode" in which we have auto-aim, but yes, control remapping is always good to have.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Awesome graphics and audio! Ditto on some of the other comments on spikes and water. A flash or overlay of when and where ghost attacks were hitting could be nice too. I was having a hard time knowing where to avoid. I totally get time constraints though, so that's just a thought.

Great job! I hope you are able to participate in more GWJs 😁

Thanks for the feedback. The flash on the player to make damage more clear is also a good idea.

Yes, I'll definitely do more jams :)

Love the graphics you did here and also the fight mechanics, love doing that ghost buster ray  gun thingy.

Was looking for a side that it was a rage game its not.

  • Was expecting a one-sided collision on the platforms because I was used to it while playing platformers
  • The water and spike was too OP with insta-kill. also was hard to see.

Congratulations on the submission!!

Love the idea of Bunny, the steampunk ghostbuster! :D

The platforming was a bit frustrating at parts, the water and the spikes were a bit hard to see, so I got instakilled multiple times. However, the combat was fun and the art was top-notch!

Thanks for the feedback :)

The problem is that I used parallax for the foreground elements. If I had had time I would have done the foregrounds 1-1 to the level to ensure that water and spikes were always easy to see. Like this I had to try to find a balance between showing off the foreground elements,  having the water/spikes very visible and having enough vertical space on the screen. Clear that ended up not being good enough.

I'm glad you liked to combat though!

Very nice visuals, I love the drawings. The atmosphere is really cool also.

I felt the difficulty was a bit rough for me. I’m not a big platformer player so I died a lot and got discouraged. The attack feels a bit uneffective when two or more ghosts attack me and can regenerate in less than five seconds. The insta-death of the spikes and water added to the frustration also.

I know it’s hard to tune the difficulty of a game while creating it but I’d suggest toning it down by enhancing the player’s attack or giving him a special attack with a cooldown.

Overall, it was a cool experience for me. Congrats! :)

Yes. A big lesson for me is that even if for me the game is too easy (because I know it), I should have an easy mode to allow non platform players to enjoy it.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Nice game, good graphics and sound design very well made for the game aesthetic. There is also a good use of light and darkness, and the tutorial is well made too. Personally, I think it will be good to have any indication  of  the screaming ghost attack range.

Other than that, good job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I was preparing a shader to show shockwaves to show the sound range but I just ran out of time :)

I love the artstyle !

The game difficulty felt a bit unfair, instadeath on water and spikes is rough, I died 4 times during the tutorial. Ghosts have too much regenerating health, fighting them felt pointless. It also makes the attack feel very weak.

Nice job on implementing different enemies with different patterns. Although I did not get how to dodge the screamer's attack (it felt like a full screen move).

Movement feels good.  Aiming the attack on a controller is buggy, I had to switch to keyboard & mouse.

Congrats on the successful jam entry !

Thanks a lot for the feedback.

In what way is the aiming bugged on the controller? I didn't notice. I have a cap on the aiming angle (due to sprite limitations), so that makes it a bit strange, but I'm guessing that's not what you mean.

The difficulty is tricky, because for me it has become too easy to kill the normal ghosts, so I didn't want to make it even easier by reducing the regen. I guess it all comes down to knowing the patterns. For the screamer I wanted to add a visual indication of the range of the scream so it's easier to avoid...but I ran out of time. You can avoid it if you're not in the collision shape which is a rectangle in front (maybe 150px or so) when it stops, but it will chase you for about 4 seconds before it stops to try again in a bit. But yes, the game is missing quite a bit of balancing.

Really liked the art its a fun style! I'm very bad at platformers so i didn't go too far, but I liked the game overall. Also the trick to shadow some shapes and when you get there theres nothing is really cool

Developer(+1)

Obrigado! I actually didn't intend for it at first, but then I liked the result and added in more places haha!

The art and sound design of this game are superb. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks. I wanted to do something inspired by hollow knight, shaders, lights, parallax, particle fx, etc. Working with a sound engineer definitely made a big difference on the sound!

Gorgeous, but I'm so bad at platform games XD

Developer

Good, this way it means the game wasn't too short ;) Thanks :)

Oh my god! Those graphics! So gorgeous! The mechanics and audio are great too! Well done.

Developer

Thank you. Yeah put a lot of emphasis on trying to make the most of the art I got. Lots of shaders and parallax haha.
