Loved it. Took some time to figure out that the “other” world actually showed you the solution to each puzzle and still with that knowledge a couple of rooms were challenging. My personal favorite Part 2, freezing cats to use as blocks. Personally I found the difficulty just rate, the controls and visuals pretty solid and overall a solid game.
I'm really bad at Sokoban/Box pushing type of puzzles, but this has a really nice look and anyone who can design clever and challenging puzzles has my deepest respect. I didn't make it past the gate switch puzzle, but I'm sure there is some way.
This is really interesting but really hard. I got stuck on a puzzle and couldn't figure out how to progress or how to use the dream and reality world to my advantage. But this is a really good game jam game and I hope you continue working on it. I also tried to make a puzzle game and am impressed at how you designed the puzzles.
I agree with some of the other comments about the text in the first room being hard to read but other than that the controls we good, the art style and music were fantastic. Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing what you make in future jams!
Sorry about the text. I was intending to have more of a tutorial but I ran out of time.
The real world shows you what the solution to the room is. You have to solve the puzzles in the dream world and progress through the dream world. Switching between worlds acts as a reset button in case you make a mistake since it resets the room and player position. I wish I had time to make this more clear, but before upload time I had been up for over 24 hours working on the submission and I needed to get it at least playable.
Thanks playing and the good feedback!
I got stuck in the 3rd room, where you apparently have to switch back and forth between dream realm and reality. But I totally love the graphics and the concept!
Sorry about the difficulty. I intended to add more rooms before the difficult puzzles to act as a "tutorial" so that understanding what to do to solve the hard puzzles was easier. Thanks for playing!
the game is really original, switching between reality and dream is an interesting mecanic. Pour une première game jam, le jeu est vraiment complet! Congrat!
Very cool! You said this isn't as complete as you were intending!? I mean, it's definitely better than a *lot* of jam games in terms of completeness! I'm really impressed with your first GWJ submission, well done and keep up the good work! You could definitely complete this and sell it here or even if you were to develop it a lot further on Steam. The only major feedback I have is that I would like it to be harder to switch between the dream world and the waking world: whether that be changing the button to something other than Q (which is very close to WASD and hence easy to fat-finger), or adding a confirmation dialog or something else, that's up to you! The game itself is tight, puzzles were interesting and extremely well-thought-out.
Thanks for the feedback. I could easily make the switch worlds key "R" instead, since it's a common key used in most PC games, so when I continue work on the game later, I'll be implementing that. Again, thank you!
Switching between dream and real world is really interesting. Music suits the game. Good work.:)
- Theme: The tie in was flipping between the real world and dream world
- Fun: The puzzles were challenging (I didn't make it past the 4th room or so) and I liked how the hints were shown in the real world
- Controls: Controls were crisp and felt like an NES or Gameboy Color game
- Graphics: The art fit the aesthetic well, again it really captured the NES/Gameboy feel
- Audio: The music fit the mood
- A11y: The first room was difficult to see the instructions and it was a little hard to see the fallen crates.
- Originality: Very fun puzzle game and the mechanics were introduced well level to level
Thanks for playing! My testers also said Room 4 was difficult haha sorry about that. I didn't get time to add more rooms that show common situations that the hand spell could utilize.
