Am I genuinely a moron or is this game completely impossible? How is it possible to get enough water to water the tree before it dies?

Developer

It is possible to win. You really need to manage your water and how many flowers you have. But the game is probably a little bit too hard.

What's your strategy? I couldn't grow flowers fast enough to get the water for the tree

Developer

Start like this:
- Plant 1 seed, buy water
- Plant 2 seeds, buy water and water the tree
- Plant 4 seeds, buy water and water the tree
You really need to be careful with your water.

Is there some way to avoid watering the flowers? Even after selling them I can't get enough water to water the tree.

Developer

It's only when the water level hits 0 that the flower dies. Also, a flower needs in general 2 cycles of the sun. So I when I'm in the second cycle, I don't water it.

I discovered that the reason I haven't been able to water the tree is because I was standing in the wrong place. I thought this whole time that I had to stand right at the tree but I needed to stand to the left of it I guess.

edit: never mind, I was wrong. Sorry but I'm just gonna give up.

Hey I like the art style and theme interpretation, its a bit hard indeed but its fun when you got a lot of plants to "manage", good job!

This one has its issues which sabotage what might be an enjoyable experience.

There are no lights, which not only is a bust on the theme, but would have been really helpful for indicating the weather.

I could not water the tree. This particular interaction appears to be broken.

Nearly there on a complete game, but there are glaring issues. Learn from this, and come back in January!

Hi, thank you for your comment! My interpretation of the theme illuminate is the photosynthesis so, you "illuminate" flowers to make them grow. You don't need light to be in the theme, but yes, there should have been more visual indicators. Also, if you couldn't water the tree, it is probably because you didn't have enough water. Like I said in the game, "[The tree] needs lot of water". But it is my first game in Godot so I understand that there are a lot of issues :) (Hope you can understand my comment, I don't speak english)

I do concede on your point about illumination.

For the world tree watering, a more exact indication is necessary to communicate how much water you need. You can have the bar include a transparent section to indicate how filled that bar needs to be before you can water the world tree.

Sprite art looks amazing and the game concept sounds fun. I personally found the difficulty pretty steep. It felt like the water was costing way too much, and the snow lasted pretty long with no indication it was over. I managed to build one plant before the tree timer went out. I didn’t manage to water the big tree a single time.

I would have loved to see the timers relaxed quite a bit.
