Game Description
beat parasites in the form of card sequences, in a solitaire reimagining

How does your game tie into the theme?
I took a more abstract approach, seeing parasites as long creatures with many segments. I decided to use cards to represent this elongation and used solitaire rules as a mechanic to beat them.

I also struggled a little with the rules on this one, as I just assumed it was normal solitaire but with the limited space and inability to move a stack it was really hard. Eventually I ran out of moves and tried some different things, and then realized I had could stack cards the other direction as well.

I think you did a nice job on the visuals (though it was a little sluggish but I'll blame that on it being a browser export), and it's certainly cool to see unexpected matchups like a parasite solitaire game. Good job!

Appreciate the feedback, I'll def be putting tutorials higher up on my todo lists. Thanks for playing!

Good game. I just wish you had provided more specific instructions than "follow solitaire rules". There's hundreds of solitaire variants. I didn't know if I was making sets, runs, matching cards, following suits or alternating red/black. Took me too long just to figure out the basic rules.

Maybe it was in the manual, but I didn't see it.

After that, super fun game.

Oh I agree, my tutorial and explanations were for sure lacking. Ran out of time for this one but will take this comment to heart for the future. Appreciate you playing :).

Amazing game! I loved Solitaire at the time, and playing this was such a peaceful and emotional experience *-*

The idea of representing parasites as sequences of cards is perfect, and I was surprised by how well the solitarie mechanics fit on that core idea. On the other side, the additional "Roshambo" mechanic felt a bit unrelated, also because (but I may be wrong here) there's no way to strategize your move, it's more like a random guess?

The "artistic" side is simply beautiful: the animations are smooth, the music is relaxing, the cards are clear but also unique in their way. I don't know if you designed the graphics, but I would pay for a deck of cards with this style :P

Overall, fantastic submission! Congratulation for your first GWJ :)

Thank you for this comment. If I'm being honest, the roshambo aspect was definitely hacked on at the end to provide another way for the parasite to move. I should've given more thought into the difficulty scaling. I did design the cards and who knows maybe in the future ;). Thanks for playing and the encouragement.

Not a solitaire guy myself, but I did play this for much longer than any game of classic solitaire in my life, which is a great sign that it has some stuff going for it! Unique take on the theme as well :D

I too have been playing Balatro!

Congrats on your first GWJ entry! I think you built a really great atmosphere. I felt very calm despite the creepy parasites. It was a fun implementation of Solitaire. Great job!

Developer

Thank you for the kind comment. Will definitely attempt more GWJ in the future.
