Game Description
Awakening in a stark, featureless room suspended in a void outside time and space, you find yourself alone with a sentient computer. To escape, you must play its game. Success means freedom; failure means your soul is lost forever to the void. Can you outsmart the machine and reclaim your freedom? Or will you remain trapped for eternity?

How does your game tie into the theme?
It is loosely tied to the theme narratively , since the game is set in a room inside a liminal void. Also if you lose your "soul" gets trapped in this void forever

A very fun and scary concept! Lol thanks for the jump scare, I was both expecting something, but deep down hoping nothing to be there in what was already a great set up :) Again great tone and atmosphere set up enhanced with the audio and visuals.

I liked the atmosphere of the game and the monitor effect! I agree with others about the randomness being a slight issue as the first playthrough seemed to go well for me but the second playthrough it went really bad and I’m not sure switching would have helped, though I did like the the little touch with the second playthrough helping me! Oh and maybe you did say this and I missed it but it would have helped me if the rules said that aces were high as I went in assuming they were 1 (though that was only an issue the first time I got it :D).

Thank you for the kind words and feedback!

Ah yes, you are right, I completely neglected to mention Aces count as 11 instead of 1, haha.  Played alot of Balatro lately and for some reason I just have an Ace as an 11 in my head, which clearly is not the case for all games :D

the CRT monitor and the game on it look very nice. the whole thing has a creepy atmosphere and the 'turn around' segment actually made me jump a little lol. i think it would add a little more strategy if you only rerolled one card at a time, or if you had a limited number of 'bonus pips' that you could add to any particular roll. great work! kind of reminded me of buckshot roulette

Developer

Thank you! Glad you liked it. Most of your suggestions are actually also ideas I had for this but didn't manage to implement due to time. I might add an update at some point to expand on this!

The visuals were fantastic! The game itself is very random and could use some balancing or a greater degree of player agency, it didn't feel like outsmarting the machine, just hoping you get a lucky roll and swapping when your cards make a substantially unlikely target.  But I could see this being the 'scripted boss fight loss' style introduction to a cruel horror game with the current mechanics in place!  Audio really set the mood and the bad ending was suitably creepy.  The second playthrough was a nice, Incryption-esque touch, though it wasn't clear to me how it benefitted me to have the item in question.

Developer

Thank you for playing, the kind words and feedback!

The item could be inserted in the computer to give you a slight advantage. Although maybe I should have made that a bit more apparent since I got some feedback from players that they did not understood how to use it in the end.

Wow, the presentation in this submission was incredible. The gameplay was... minimal, I wish there were more choices to make other than just hitting the "roll" button and swapping a couple of times. However, the graphics and audio were so cool that I think this could be expanded into a really cool more comprehensive experience.

Hey thank you so much! Glad you liked it.
I get what you mean about the gameplay. I wanted to do so much more creepy escape room stuff with this title but in the end I had to scope down quite a lot... Due to my inexperience with 3D I was taking up much more dev time than expected. Maybe I will expand it in the future to have all the other ideas I had
