Game Description
Fun game about CHESS! ROGUE CHESS! IT'S NUTS! YOU GOTTA SEE THIS!
How does your game tie into the theme?
Rogue Chess involves scaling a tower. The tower is somewhat metaphorical, and moreso represents towering challenges.

Finally a game where you have to use your brain :D
Nice rendition of chess in new clothes! I like everything about this game!
Thank you for giving the game a go and the kind words!
I was impressed by your intro and the idea (it seems the game has a lot of content). However, the game just didn’t work for me. I was pressing WASD and clicking, but the pawn simply didn’t move.
Apologies for not explaining the controls! Tutorial bugged out and wasn't able to cover everything in the help menu. You move pieces using mouse controls - click to select your piece and then click one of the icons to do whatever action is associated with it. I've not heard of any of any troubles in which the controls entirely do not work, so I'm left to assume it was a miscommunication on our part as developers. Thank you for giving the game a go anyways!
Interesting puzzles. It would have been nice if when you picked up a powerup the first time it told you what it did instead of requiring the player to open the help screen and hope it explained it (it did, but could be missed). Also, would be nice if you could fast forward the beginning with a skip button as I wanted to get straight to playing and felt stalled out.
Tutorial bugged out pretty hard too close to the deadline unfortunately, the help menu was a reluctant backup plan. The intro *can* be skipped, but only after an initial viewing. Though I suppose yeah, it's maybe a little too long to justify this and would benefit from some brevity. Either way, thank you for playing our game!
I'm impressed with the amount of levels you were able to churn out. My only small quibble is that some of the solutions explicitly require stalling the opponent until they literally give you their piece, which doesn't make me feel as smart when winning. A great with a good atmosphere.
A good puzzle game with quite a few interesting mechanics. I like the powerups, especially the one that transfers you to another pawn.
My only complaint is having to click on the pawn to activate it whenever it's my turn. If there were multiple chess pieces on the board. then it's completely understandable. But if there's only one pawn on the board, then it became tedious having to click the pawn, move it one step, wait for the enemy to move, and then repeating the process again.
Glad you liked it! That's definitely a fair complaint though, I've had some notes on that. Thank you for playing!
Honestly best chess game I've played. Not a big fan of chess but this is a very fun puzzle game with nice art and interesting mechanics. Got as far as Jailbreak while witing for something to run, now I'm out of time
Thanks for giving the game a go! Glad you enjoyed!
