I really liked the game! The music is good, maybe it lacks audio feedback when the player gets hit. I like that it has controller input even if it's not implemented in the UI. The art is cute and I love the little ice cube and that it's size decreases to show that he's melting. The camera felt a bit weird at times and the double jump had too small of a time gap for double tapping. But overall it's a really solid game.
Whoa I didn’t even think about audio for when the player is hit, thank you! I’ll put it on the list for my postjam update!
Thank you for playing!
I enjoyed the game and it had some fun and interesting concepts. Your health points slowly melting away was very interesting, and it was also neat how your hitbox size would change as you melted. It feels like this changing hitbox size could have been utilized for making potential shortcuts or alternate routes or something along those lines.
On the flip side, I did find the double jump mechanic in this game a bit annoying, and I think it would have benefitted from a more standard double jump mechanic.
Very cute and fun haha, It's a very complete game, the art and music are very good, and the gameplay works very well with the level design.
Although at first I thought the ice spikes would kill me haha, I guess I'm just too used to spikes = death
Good job! :D
Thank you for playing! I can see now how people could think the ice spikes would kill you… I didn’t even think about that lol :|
Perhaps making them look more like background objects would fix it. Thank you for your feedback!
This makes for a good demonstration that simplicity can be a strength. It controls well, the level is just long enough to make you wish there were checkpoints but not actually need them, there are zero Deadly Spikes, and other than that one time you have to jump up into a screen transition the dangers are well telegraphed. All in all, good game!
Nailed the retro platformer aesthetic with the art and audio, had a great time playing this one!
Fun game! Very cute art, and the level design was solid. I was a little timid to begin the level because I assumed the icicles would hurt me. I think the double jump window could be slightly longer. Other than that, great entry!
I rarely download games from Game Jams and usually prefer playing in the browser.
However, I couldn’t resist when I saw this retro platformer, and I have no regrets! I loved it and even managed to beat it on normal difficulty!
My only criticism is that the double jump feels a bit laggy.
Glad you enjoyed it!!! :D
I agree, the double jump isn’t the best… probably cause I didn’t actually mean for it to be there, it’s a side effect of my buggy coyote time implementation <:D
I’ve already fixed it and made it a proper double jump in my dev version, so as soon as the jam is over, I’ll update it! Thank you for playing!
Cool! The 8bit sounds and music reminded me of "I wanna be the guy". It is a little bit hard even in the normal difficulty, but platformers are not really my kind of games so I may lack the skills
Nice job!
It hard but fun
:)
The art is fantastic!!!!!!!
