I really enjoyed the flame thrower effects. Like others stated, I wish it melted more ice and/or melted ice faster. And holy cow the 2nd floor needs a trypophobia warning. I decided to just go to the room at the end of the hall to find the doctor (he wasn't there) and ugh... Nope. Nope. Nope.
I liked how the game looked except the fact that everyhting was so dark. Why no lights in rooms. I was first thinking ok not so bad cleaning game but then i went to the second floor and i was like nope. Not for me. Maybe the game should start for smaller amounts of ice and then when you progress you could get more efficient melting options and add those ices then to be in full rooms. Now it just makes the player to drop out right away.
I'll be honest, holding down the left mouse button for fifteen minutes isn't exactly my idea of fun. The flamethrower looked nice, but it needed to either melt the ice faster, melt more ice at once, or have less ice to melt in the first place. Or have anything to do besides melt ice, or at least have a melted ice meter on the screen so I can see my progress.
Of course, I never really enjoyed or got the point of the various X cleaning simulators that seem to be a popular genre on steam, so maybe that's just me.
Or maybe its that I've watched a few too many Outer Wilds lets plays lately, and had a subconscious aversion of running around in a field of ghost-matter looking crystals :]
Game looks fantastic, especially for a Game Jam. The Flamethrower VFX rock and the lighting is great. Really showing what a good-looking Godot game can be, even within just a few days.
The gameplay itself is not exactly what I was expecting, the game is almost like playing Powerwashing Simulator. I think if there had been more pressure on the player, an ammo economy, environmental hazards, different means of melting ice, or something like, there could have been more gameplay variety.
The flame VFX are lovely, and I enjoyed that bit of dialogue haha. Having some user feedback for melting the ice would be nice to have, and a touch more light. I like the vibe though
