Here’s my best run! image.png

Kind of reminds me of the old Papa's Kitchen games (what a throwback!). Not sure what's with the freeze button though - is there a reason not to just freeze right before every customer's order and unfreeze right after completing it?

Nice game and game mechanic! I feel like I played this kind of game before, and it has a nice vibe to it. The freeze didn't quite blend into the game for me, though - you kinda have to just press it every turn, so it feels more like a shore than a challenge. The rest of the core mechanics were quite cute and fun!

Developer(+1)

Yes, I can definitely see what you're saying. I thought of having the freeze button not really regenerate and instead have a resource bar that needed to be carefully managed through the whole play session - but after I added overtime I was unsure and reverted to the generating value. I think there could definitely be a balance, because after playtesting a lot, I found myself doing the same thing. It wasn't variant enough.

Out of the top of my head - I think you could do a freezer to put ice cream in if it takes too much time to assemble. To refreeze? :) Or some other mechanic that punished you if your icecream is not in the freezer for too long?

Developer(+1)

Ooo, yes! Almost similar to putting something in an oven in a more traditional cooking game, but more optional. Or maybe getting multiple orders at once and being able to hold them in a freezer.

Cute game with good art and a polished UI! Who knew penguins could be so grumpy haha. Great entry!

Submitted(+1)

It's doable once you discover when to hit the freeze button, but I somehow always confuse the white icecream with yellow ones. That being my bad, I enjoyed trying this game, for its fun idea, cute graphics and great humor!

I love this king of game.  The penguins are really   impatient.

It feels too short, need to increase the number of clients and increasing the difficult, not random.

I enjoyed playing.

Good job.

Thank you! And definitely agree.  I wanted to add additional items such as a snowcone making station and to have the complexity of orders and variety of orders scale as the player progressed through a series of days of service. Might return to the idea in the future!

Thank you for your time and feedback!

Great Game, I had some good fun with this just trying to optimize the freezes trying to make the order before hopefully unfreezing in time, very fun time.
Sometimes during the freeze if there was only yellow or only the white ice cream I struggled a lot with coming up which which it was

Developer

You know, I noticed this when I was playing the game on the very last day! If I get a chance, I'll go in and change the draw order so the stations are on top of the ice effect, I think that'll help a lot.

Thank you for the feedback!

Hey very fun game haha.

The mechanics are fun and simple, and the controls are very responsive.

I think it's an idea that has the potential to continue expanding in some way.

Great job!

Awesome game! Its short and cute I love the penguins haha, the aesthetics is very adorbs. The freeze button worked well with the theme and mechanics of the game

This was really fun! It got super frantic but felt very skill-dependant and I definitely got better everytime I played. I really enjoy the simplicity of the challenge and the freeze mechanic once I figured it out added a lot of strategy to it.

I think the game is really fun as is, and if you wanted to polish it some more I'd only really be looking for a bit more sound and animation, even if it's just fades and bounces! I'd love to get a bit more reaction to plopping on a new scoop of icecream, giving the customer their cone, or the customers popping up in the first place. More idle movement on screen would make it feel more alive.

UI was all great and pretty self-explanatory. Really good job!

Developer

I completely agree! I spent the whole last day of development working on sounds, but I definitely would have liked to get way more tiny animations into the game. Especially some squishy ice cream ones and more expression from the customers. I originally planned on having different facial expressions for each type of penguin and each customer satisfaction level, but that slowly turned into make a lot of drawings. Unfortunately I worked through most of the Jam, so I only really had Sunday-Wednesday to make everything.

I appreciated the feedback and appreciate that you played the game!

This game was awesome. My first two times I was getting upset at how fast I had to be lol. Those damn penguins were triggering my retail days ptsd.

Great job!

As I fellow retail survivor, I thank you for your service! lol My very first day at work they just dropped me on the sales floor with no training, I felt like this game captured the memory well.

This is very similar to my game haha.

It was cool to experience this, I didn't realize I could use the freeze  button to my advantage at first and I was very stressed that my penguins were unhappy. After I figured it out though it was pretty easy to get a hang of!

Developer

Our games both take place in the same extended universe where industrial food service companies manufacture large, sky blue colored "Freeze" buttons ;)

Just played your game and it was fun! I nearly had popsicles in my game as well, so apparently we were on the same wavelength lol

You did a really good job with this! The freeze button completely changed how I played.  Good job following the theme!

I love the ice cream and penguin theme of this game. Once I realized I could use the freeze option fairly often, I enjoyed trying to see just how many penguins I could serve before the timer ended.

This is a short but cute game. Giving the penguins the correct ice cream while watching the time and using the freeze mechanic timely, provides a small challenge. Overall I was happy to see my customers happy.

Thank you for this game :D
