This is awesome! Combat feels a little slow/clunky but with a couple refinements this would be even better than it already is. Level design is great, the lighting is great, the models/animations are great. The cheeky descriptions on some of the upgrades got a chuckle out of me. Awesome work! Love your style!

Developer

Haha thank you! The descriptions were a last minute addition and I'm glad I took the time to put them in :)

I love the interpretation of the theme, replacing body parts to become more mechanical is very cool, and gives the vibe that you are becoming more similar to the enemies over time. Cool level generation and enemy design, my only gripe is that the combat feels a little too slow for me (you want the weapons to feel weighty but when it's too slow they can feel floaty instead). Maybe experiment with animation curves in the future to give more oomph to those sword swings. Great job!

Yeah I think I missed the mark a bit with combat feel; will have to relook at how to keep it slow/strategic while making sure it's still satisfying and intuitive. Thanks for the comment!

I'm amazed at the amount of stuff you've been able to cram into that game in a such a small amount of time. And as a first jam entry, it is even more impressive.

Graphics, audio, and ambiance as a whole really go along together to produce a great result.

Well done!

Developer

Thank you! My sleep schedule is definitely the worse for wear, but I'm very happy with how much I managed to learn godot from this project—amazing experience.

You nailed the theme of the game! I loved the designs for the enemies and rooms, and the items had some cool tradeoffs. My only complaint would be that I found myself running in circles a lot, which mostly negated the need for the dash. Great job!

Developer

The dash is set up as a sort of panic-button currently but I definitely need to look into making it more useful. Thanks for the comment!

Really liked this game, the audio design and level design really caught my attention. The enemies have such a cool aesthetic. The only comment I have is the combat felt a little slow, but after playing for awhile I think that's the intention. Really really awesome submission, great job!

Developer

Thanks for the comment, so glad you enjoyed it!

Was a lot of fun to make, and yes the slow combat was an intentional decision. Was tired of all the fact paced fps games recently (excepting blug, blug is awesome), but I definitely need to do more testing at different speeds to see what people like best.

Cheers :)

Awesome graphical and enemy design!

Thanks!

Wow, super impressive.

Looks and sounds great. Cohesive artstyle. I felt immersed immediately. First room scared me so much!

Maybe a bit too difficult, with 2 enemies in first room. One slow and tanky one would be enough, to practice controls. Maybe some boxes blocking the way to destroy before that, so that you are certain that players knows how to attack before first enemy.

Love it!

Thanks for the comment!

And yeah it is a bit too difficult, everyone I tested it with was very good at this kind of game so I didn't realise lmao
