Thank you so much for playing it and for your feedback.

There were several options for me to handle the theme, but this one seemed more interesting to me.

Everyone complains about the map, you're no exception. And I definitely complain about it myself, so don't worry, I don't take it the wrong way.

I don't like the idea of the minimap, nor the pointers, it might break the immersion. I would rather have the map be self-explanatory and show to the player where to go.

I'm not sure how to do that though, I think using distinct paths is a way, getting the house closer together is another.

Fun game, nice theme interpretation and simple, yet enticing, game loop. Thanks for this refreshing entry.

BTW, I have a new cover image to suggest

Unofficial game cover

Muhahahahaha

I couldn't stop eating stuff...

"Oh my god, what is that doing there?" *wink-wink*

That character is the boss of it all, you think everything is going well even though you've been lying... but NO!!!!! And you lose a massive amount of points... gotta love it!

Thank you so much for playing, for your comment and above all, to play it long enough to discover that little secret. Now, if you want to know, there is another secret somewhere else, not the same kind though...

Thank you so much for playing and for your feedback.

You're not the first person to make that comment, and I also experienced it myself: the map is too large, or there should be a map, or some way to be able to locate oneself. I think I'll go for dedicated tiles to mark significant paths and try to have some variety in the assets so that it won't be that easy to get lost amidst all the buildings looking the same.

Regarding the sound, everything is working as intended: it is a cue that something is going on, and if you're not in the middle of a dialog, *something* should happen right at the end...

Thanks again, it was challenging, but fun to make, and I'm glad I could be part of this adventure with all the participants; there are amazing submissions around!

Wow!

I've got so many questions:

  • how did you use that softbody physics?
  • what dialog framework did you use?
  • HOW DID YOU DO ALL THIS IN ONLY 9 DAYS????

These are a few...feel free to let me know anytime ^U^

Seriously, it was amazingly fun and well done, congrats for this first jam submission!

My brain is now fried, it very hard from the very beginning.

Nevertheless, the art style is amazing, the storytelling is great and the music is dynamic.

It really is a cool game. Congrats for this very good entry.

The last guy, the guy I was annoyingly prevented from voting for, strangely looks like the man on the picture on the desk...

I loved the ambiance, I loved the psychological dilemmas, I love the hint of conspiracy transpiring from the various clues around, I loved the passive narration through the enforcement reports.

I'm not sure about the "metamorphosis", even though I sense that the parasite operates some kind of transformation on its host.

Apart from this minor detail, it was seriously a treat. Thanks for making this game and sharing it.

lol, it happened to me in one of my playthroughs; I stepped out of the detection area and she ran. Stupid witch!

There might be a few things I can do to tweak it a little.

Regarding the dialogs, I needed to grab focus for the player to be able to use the keyboard and the only button that was perma-available was the exit button :/ Now, if you exit the dialog, you can trigger it again, and it will simply continue the same line of dialog. It only resets at the beginning of the cycle.

Speaking of cycle, the inspiration for the music usage was Outer Wilds (if you know, you know). I believe it can explain a lot. I'm sorry for the jump scare, though, it was not premeditated.

Thank you so much for playing, for the feedback, and for trying out several times with different playthroughs.

I'll take 3 (I have 2 kids)

Oh I did. I love the morphing mechanics, and the puzzles are well thought out.

I had to think in 4D; I really enjoyed it.

And it even morphed your own idea of the game... morph-ception...

Now THAT's meta!

Thank you so much for your feedback.

I'm glad that not everything was obvious at first; I wanted the game to have some kind of mystery to it, and it seems it has.

Thanks for your feedback! Audio IS important, and it didn't occur to me to what extent it was lacking in the game prior to publishing it and seeing it streamed by Vikfro.

I didn't play it through enough. Was just testing features and fixing bugs at the time. At least it works, but you need SoundCloud on the side XD

Thank you so much for your feedback and suggestion.

I don't know whether I will expand on the game, but if I do, I will certainly try and make the quest more coherent and intricate. There is also the object/inventory management system to handle for sure... might be quite the challenge too...

Ok I guess I don't have a choice now

Did someone spoil?!? Who could ever do such an evil thing for a jam?

Anyhow, it was a pleasure. Could you please let me know where you found the audio for the game?

You're welcome! And you don't owe me any appology, delivering a game in such a small amount of time is indeed challenging.

I'll try with the tip you provided, I'll see if I can make it work this way.

You nailed it!

Very nice game graphics wise. I ended up stuck in the first hole, not being able to figure out how to jump high as a fox.

Anyways, it is a nice job, I think you shouldn't be so harsh with yourself and your work.

I believe it is your first entry in this jam, so congrats!

Keep up the good work.

...and overwhelmed I have been!

Very nice art for this cute small game. Congrats for your first jam, you nailed it!

I hope you'll be able to upload a working version of your game, I really want to try it.

I'm amazed at the amount of stuff you've been able to cram into that game in a such a small amount of time. And as a first jam entry, it is even more impressive.

Graphics, audio, and ambiance as a whole really go along together to produce a great result.

Well done!

What a nice world you've built. So peaceful, and very immersive.

I ended up blocked twice because of the ice (there is a hole I fell into and couldn't climb out of, and I tried to plant prior to melt the ice on the wall which was a hard reset).

Apart from that, it's very well done, congrats for this first jam!

Who needs AAA games when it is at least as satisfying to play with a gameboy emulator?

The vibe of the game (audio AND graphics) was very enticing, and I enjoyed my journey in the world you've built.

I'm quite annoyed at the unobtainable chest, I have to admit...

Congrats for this nice entry!

Very nice graphics, I love the vibe!

I ended up stuck trying to get out of the pool climbing the ladder. And I experienced so massive lag. It might be due to my computer though, it is now quite old.

I hope you've been able to have some sleep in the meeantime!

Very high level entry! Very nice work! I was mesmerized all along.

Controls are a bit tedious, I would rather be able to directly switch between actions while ingame, but apart from that, it was a masterclass!

Thank you for making this!

Nice little game, and pretty impressive as a first. I love the intro (wish I could make that in my own).

Sadly, I wasn't able to make any attack work on those nasty bugs running around, and I kept dying horribly.

So, never went past the tutorial...and it's a shame, because I wanted to know what happened in the lab!

If you have any tip forme, I'll gladly try it out.

En tout cas bien joué, et rendez-vous pour le prochain !

If you ever make a plush out of the die, I'll be your first customer!

Very fun game, more than I was expecting for a game jam, I enjoyed the dice-roll mechanics (very useful to go through spikes).

I've experienced the clicking bug (it seems you figured out it is due to the shader, it's no heartbreaker).

Did you use move_and_collide? Not being able to slide on walls is quite frustrating at time, especially when trying to fit in a narrow passage way, or fighting in an arena full of pillars.

Apart from that, very well done, congrats!

Too bad you couldn't make what you intended to do in the first place.

Keep up the good work!

That music...I was beatboxing it all along, very cool!

Played for a while, and they kept coming, and they kept dying. Lack of visual effect for the melee weapon is quite unsettling at first (since melee is the first weapon and not seeing visual cue made me think that left click was not a thing) but I got over it quite fast when that damn sluc appeared on the screen.

Definitely range weapon all the way.

Nice game, and nice ambiance, fun and enticing.

Gotta buy a new mouse now (note to myself, autoclicker is a must)

Fun little game, and very original. I would say it is influenced by Super Meat Boy in that it frustrates me in the same way. Infinite respawn is a blessing!

Very well done for your first game and first jam; Congrats

How's your ticket coming along?

(1 edit)

Thanks for taking the time to play it, and thanks for your comment.

It was very fun to make, and I'm quite satisfied with how it turned out.

That said, as soon as I submitted it, I realized the extent of my bias...

I agree about the map, it is very big, and unnecessary so. Houses could be very much closer together, as well as forests, etc. I'll undoubtedly keep that in mind for my next project (as well as music, sound effects, animations, asset variety...).

There is sooooo much!

Thank you so much for playing!

I was afraid that the "loop" (or "cycle" as you say) mechanics were not intelligible enough, but it seems you've got it right, through and through. The music I have used is called "Magical transition" (which fits quite well) and comes from freepd.com.

BTW, it IS possible to reach 20 on the first loop (I've tried), which seems to indicate that some more balancing is due, or maybe just to step up the goal from 20 to 25 or 30. I cannot set it up too much though, since there is an anti-farming system at work in the background, and I'm afraid 50 is not reachable. I'll let future me do the math.

Thanks for your support.

Oh you have nothing to do, just wait for the end of the tune...there goes the curse ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Nice chill puzzle game, and nice audio. RNG spices up the challenge: those damn dice never gave me the 6 I wanted and loved...

I think I'm doing something wrong with the extra moves, I don't seem to understand how to use them :/

Anyhow, I enjoyed the mood. The game loop is simple yet enticing. A real pleasure to play.

Thank you very much!

I admit that more variety would help the player understanding where he is sometimes. I tried to draw paths on the ground to help with that, but more obvious tiles would do a better job at that.

Regarding the features, I had that idea in mind and the dev process went rather pretty smoothly.

Have you heard the music?
