Amusing VN with a lot of references scatter throughout the writing, though it does feel a little wordy at times. I want to imagine there would have been an anime ending to the ending song!
The Concessions and Confession Of Lee Harold Oswald is a unique entry in the Harold Game Jam, focusing heavily on storytelling and narrative immersion. This game is more of an interactive book than a traditional game, prioritizing a complex, text-heavy narrative over gameplay mechanics.
The story is bizarre and intricate, weaving a tale that is both captivating and bewildering. Some players may find the humor sharp and hilarious, while others might find it falls flat. The narrative’s tone oscillates between dark and absurd, creating a surreal experience that is likely to be memorable for those who enjoy unconventional storytelling.
The game’s pacing is slow, as it relies almost entirely on text to convey the story. This can make the experience feel prolonged, especially for players accustomed to more interactive gameplay. The lack of traditional game mechanics means that progression is tied to reading and absorbing the narrative, which may not appeal to everyone.
Despite its unconventional approach, the game is well-written and maintains a consistent voice throughout. The developer’s attention to detail in crafting a complex narrative is commendable, and the story itself is engaging enough to keep players invested. However, the experience may benefit from more interactive elements to break up the dense text and provide variety.
Overall, The Concessions and Confession Of Lee Harold Oswald is a bold experiment in interactive fiction. It offers a distinctive experience that challenges traditional notions of gameplay, focusing instead on delivering a rich, text-based narrative. While it may not be for everyone, those who appreciate deep, quirky storytelling and a heavy emphasis on narrative will find much to enjoy in this entry.
That was quite the tale OMG. XD I chuckled a lot of the time and sometimes got confused lol! I do adore the artwork used in the end <3 Overall, the ideas are quite nice and I love the usage of very interesting vocabulary. xD
Impressive amount of non-sequiturs in here! Definitely could not predict one moment to the next. I unfortunately, did not find it funny. I smiled when I checked Alex's prone body and he said "oh god oh god" but I didn't really find the randomness entertaining.
Points for creative storytelling via the interrogation room. The picture at the end was cool. The rest I can't say is my cup of tea.
I feel like this tried to be really verbose as a form of parody, but it ended up being long-winded and not really as entertaining as it originally seemed.
Overall: An epic historical fiction for the ages, gay romance included.
Gameplay: More of a service to the story but not bad.
Music: Nice selection of tunes. Shoutout to otoMAD too.
Story: This happened to my buddy Eric.
Graphics: RTP. Ever so slightly boosted by the incredible Harold yaoi at the end.
Comedy: Had me laughing from the description all the way to the end. Legendary.
I needed a shitpost game from this jam soooo much hahahaha
Thoroughly loved this one, amazing. There's not a lot of gameplay at all but the story was intriguing and the music slapped hard for whatever reason.
The yaoi beat drop makes this a 5 comedy contender easily.
Yes! Music is set to low volume by default! Thank the lords!
Weird glitches happening whenever characters appear... you see the sprite sheet flashing on screen. The story is fun with lots of cringe humor that I could definitely appreciate. Gameplay... was maybe a little lacking to be honest. Music was quite catchy!
All in all had a good laugh.
As a 2010s DeviantART veteran, love the cover image. xD
What the heck did I just play? And why am I enjoying it?
congratulations, in the four years i have participated in harold jam, this is indeed the weirdest entry i have ever played
