A decent base for a hybrid roguelite-style game! It is decently heavy and unoptimized, as initial UE projects tend to be... could instantly tell it was a UE game with an asset pack when you first showed clips of it LOL; for better or for worse (both!). It's good that you built some mechanics on top of the JRPG template so it wasn't just a straight-pull! I also enjoyed the multiple endings that you weaved into the spec. I also liked seeing that you got engagement on social media for it, as naturally folks were impressed by its looks!

I do enjoy the camera system! I also like combat system base, since it harkens to classics -- but that also works against you, because the formula for doing so and for playing as characters is pretty battle-tested... was having a similar discussion w/ Sel about a related game concept! What this means is, as a player here after a few combats and run-arounds, I was starting to lose that initial wow factor; since naturally the game is missing distinctive elements that are able to differentiate a game like this from its peers. (as you think about this, one great note in this direction I got in other discussions was, "you can't rely solely on the characters anymore!"... sound advice!)

Not that that's an issue of course, if you're able to build a unique experience that stands out from the other JRPG types! That does require some sort of gameplay mechanic that I think is missing... fortunately I think there is plenty you could do to design that. The others covered the range of bugs I saw, didn't try too hard to break it ๐Ÿ˜‰

Having this third-person walkable element in a similar style to Granblue Fantasy is a great start, and I can definitely see the potential to build out a unique progression that lets you scaffold on top of the saturated "play with characters" base otherwise... I'm glad you were able to push through and cook this up in time! Thank you for submitting ๐Ÿ™‡โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Thank you!!

Yeah, I've started playing Honkai Star Rail recently, and I was surprised by how much I was enjoying it. If I did decide to keep developing a turn based rpg, making changes that would make it more dynamic would make the game more fun.

And yeah not solely relying on the characters is good advice.

Thanks again for organizing!

Nice game, but a bit on the heavy side.

The visuals as nice, as is expected of an Unreal Engine game. However, the game didn't have V-sync on by default and it was unnecessarily loading my GPU with FPS above what my monitor can handle.

The camera work is really nice! However, for some reason the game starts with all 5 of Advent in the field but apparently it's meant to be only a party of 4? Sometimes the camera wouldn't let me see some of the characters to heal them and the UI at the bottom only showed 4 characters, so I never saw what Shiori's (character number 5) status was.

I have no clue what the buttons at the end of the fight do, except for the middle one that clearly states it raises stats.

I wish I could use items during the fight to replenish MP and perform more skills.

Somehow I expected a full heal after getting the "you cleared the game" screen but instead I went into battle with a dead party member and almost no MP/HP on the rest of them.

Oh yeah, sometimes Fuwawa got stuck near the enemy position, not returning to her spot, so it was impossible to cast heals on her.

Finally... please consider a smaller scale world model if you're not gonna fully utilize it in the game. 1.5GB is a large download for just a pretty looking background.

Thanks for playing!!

Oh interesting. Next time I'll add an options menu for vsync and other settings.

Yeah... The framework originally only supported 4 members, and then I hacked in another slot without changing much else

Had to also shove in the "rogue like" element for the theme. The middle button actually doesn't do anything ๐Ÿ˜ซ. While the other 2 give voice lines at least.

I initially thought using items in battle would be too strong, but it seems like it'd be better to be able to

Ah yeah, being able to enjoy the post game fights would be nice...

Oh man that Fuwawa bug ๐Ÿ˜ญ. I had problems when they would soft lock the game too

So that single level was actually most of the file size ๐Ÿ˜…. Just checked and the lighting alone took up 768MB. I'll definitely look into ways to reduce that. Other big offenders were 4k textures and a lot of duplicated animations.

But yeah could've used a lot more of the map to make the most of that environment. I didn't really have an easy way to downscale it unfortunately.

Thank you for all the work reviewing!

Nice Game. There are several Things which came to my attention though which are probably either Bugs or Things i wished would be included.

- You can't configure Shioris Equipment, Formation or read her Skills in her Menu (But you CAN heal her HP and MP)
- I wasn't even sure what Nerizzlers Gyatt and Bau Bau Buttons did until i reached the Nerissa Ending. Would maybe be nice to tell the Player what these Buttons exactly do.
- The Aiming with the Camera Movement feels a little Awkward. The Camera Movement is nice but i would maybe fix it into one position once you selected a Skill (Either Enemies or Teammates depending on what kind of Skill it is)
- It would also be nice if you could use Items while in a Fight
- For Equipment I wasn't really Sure what can be equipped by whom except by guessing or trial and error every slot. Would be nice to include in the Equipment Description for which Members these are.
- The Music felt repetitive after a while. But tbh for the Scale of this Gamejam its fine considering everything else in this Game.

Overall still a nice Game which can still be expanded on. Also nice hidden dancing Calli xD

Thanks for playing!

Yeah a lot of issues that I wanted to address.

- I've been playing a good amount of Honkai Star Rail recently, and I'd like to do something similar for the camera

- For the music, I guess it'd make sense to have separate overworld and battle music while keeping the Justice theme change part way in. Or maybe a track that feeds into the first one? Not too sure

Glad you found the not so hidden dancing Calli ๐Ÿ˜‚
