Description
We can't see it yet, but let's keep moving forward!

Here is my submission for the Impressions Composing Jam: Imagination #2.

For me the theme "The Far Reaches", not only involved a distant place or something like that, it also involved the story told or lived to get there. Following this idea I decided to split this music in three parts. And that's what I found interesting: The far reaches doesn't start when we are there, but when we decide to go there.

I wanted each part to keep more or less the same theme. It's a way for me to tie everything together and to recall the first idea of this music, namely that it come as a whole.

Regarding the length of the music, I found it interesting to compress three parts into a relatively short whole. It was a really fun challenge for me.

Finally, I tried to distance myself as much as possible from the illustration wich was given as an exemple. This illustration helped me understand the theme but I didn't want to limit myself to a Japanese atmosphere. I wanted to stand out from that.

So here is a mix between classical instrument, synthetic sounds and a touch of something like a light orchestral.

Hope you guys will enjoy it!

I liked you included a description of the story you wanted to tell, it is always great to read the thought process behind the music!

First off have to say that I really like the first four note figure of your melody (E-F#-D-B), that feels to me it could be a great motif.

Since the beginning of the melody works so great, i was a bit sad you didn't have a lot of variation to the melody, but the track works as is 😁.

If you ever expand on this with more tracks, would highly recommend trying to use the first four notes as a motif, since that's some gold material IMO 😉.

Good work!

I don't know why but from your description and the music itself I could imagine this in a game like Tunic or something like that. There's definitely some mega listenability about it. Easily could chill out to it whilst trying to figure out some puzzles :D

Good development and progression.

I think the MIDI sound of the instruments got a little grating over time, but the mix has a decent sense of space.

But it is well composed and has a nice sense of direction.

Great work!

Thank you really much mate, coming from you it's even better since your submission was gorgeous!

But I have to be honest, as I said in the description, the art is not from me unfortunately.

well you did a great job matching the art with your piece, well done

Thank you :)

Nice job,  not over-doing it on the production, allows for enough space for in-game sound effects and dialogue. Did you make the art work too?

They did not create the art, it's pre-existing AI generated artwork https://www.deviantart.com/v1ruben/art/Pixel-Art-010-987743527

Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it!

And as the previous comment said, no this is not my illustration unfortunately.
