Being a non-native English speakers, this adventure taught me a few new words :D. Fantastic writing, I can hear the words spoken to me, it really creates a vibe.
Maybe I missed something but I could not figure out what HD means. Hit dice?
Glad you enjoyed! HD is Hit Dice: generally speaking, something as Hit Points equal to Hit Dice times four or five. Best.
A throwback to the days in which TTRPGs were built upon the foundation of the creator's writing skills. Mists builds a well realized location through evocative story telling.
Really fun to read this one, the layout is good, font-size may be slightly too small but everything is clear and gives enough detail to the region. managed to get a good sense of the setting, nice and evocative! (Also as someone from the West Midlands, plenty of wry chuckles :D), Excellent Work!
Haha thanks! Get excited for the next two: the ancient forest of Ladywood, and the ruined citadel of Edgbastion....... It's very silly......
That'll be very fun! XD
Mm, the writing is so good and evocative. It's got me interested into digging more into your West Midlands setting.
Love the writing. It is so evocative. I do wish there was more art and some maps to give a clearer idea of some of the more complicated layouts. But is isn't hard to imagine this and nice to have that freedom as a GM. I'd love to see concept art or a map for the waterworks especially. I could definitely see using this at my table as a location-based 1-shot, with a bit of mapping on my own.
Using two artworks by the same artist helped them feel cohesive and they were perfectly suited to the adventure. The goat-headed goblins and Wind-shadows are both great ideas and begging to be drawn too!
You did a good job capturing the feeling of an abandoned city (spa-town in this case).
For usability at the table, I think it would help to have the most important details of descriptions bullet-pointed or presented in brief and to provide full stat blocks for the monsters.
I'm getting really good vibes from this adventure. The floating herd of soul-stealing is a great image and a terrifying obstacle. I also really like the contrast between the freezing cold air outside and the deadly hot water. I can see a lot of fun happening here!
