Did you work in a team?
I worked all by myself. In spite of the difficult challenge, it was a fun experience!
Was the resolution a challenge?
I struggled a bit with particles and with subpixels, but I managed to overcome it using Unity's render textures. I also struggled a bit with UI, but I went with a minimalistic style overall and I think it works.
What did you learn?
The 64x64 theme caught my attention and I wanted to try the challenge. In the jam I have used previous gamedev knowledge but I have come up with some useful systems to help with the time restriction. I think I can use those in other games in the future.

Love the twitchy gameplay and equally twitchy visual effects! There’s a surprising array of enemies and attack patterns as well.
Upon entering a room, I thought it was a nice touch that the exclamation marks give me a second to compose myself before starting a fight.
After beating a boss, I wish I could exit the room before taking the stairs so I could explore more of the floor before delving deeper into the dungeon!
Great submission!
Thank you so much! Your game is amazing too! The boss room thing I just wanted it to be an incentive to explore before going to the next level. Thanks for the feedback!
Fun game, the butterfly/moth boss is way more powerfull than the other bosses, eveytime he appear it was gameover.
Thanks! A good strategy is to attack it from the sides, the bullets travel together and its easier to avoid
great game, i made something similar at your game, and the ui remembers me at the pico 8 console
Thanks, I'll check it out!
the game is really fun!
Thank you!
Too hard for me to coordinate two hands when one of them is using a trackpad but I'm giving this game full marks anyway :D Looks absolutely superb and the gameplay is fast, furious fun.
Thanks! Yeah it is very hard to play without a mouse lol. Glad you like it!
Game is fun. Controls well. Art is great. Love the variety in the enemy looks. Bosses look real good. Sounds great too.
Thank you! Glad you like it!
This game has a lot of content! I usually play jam entries to the end, and I'll probably come back for this one, I got to level 10, so I have yet to see the final boss.
Binding of Issac/Gungeon players are going to love this one (like me), the game is incredibly fun, the bosses look great, and it doesn't look like at first, but there's a lot of tactic on how to play this. Accumulating hearts in the beginning of the game to ensure you can take a few hits on the harder bosses, leaving coins/hearts on the ground to pick up later when you're at 9, pre-placing bombs to kill bosses faster, etc. Getting damage ups early on really helps as well.
I was honestly surprised when I killed the first big boss and there were more content lying ahead. The sound/music design is great (chill but fitting), controls work really well, and if there's anything I would particularly change is the invulnerability frames. I'd make then a bit longer, so you can breathe a little after getting hit by a volley. That, and having more "unique" items to pickup would be an awesome addition to this game, which is already pretty cool otherwise.
All in all, this is one of my favorite entries so far (I still have a lot to play, but this really caught my attention), great job!
Omg tysm for the feedback! Im so happy the game is fun hahahaha. Luckily I can change invulnerability frames easily to be longer haha, won´t do that during the rating period but maybe I will continue working on the game when the jam ends! I just had so much fun making it, that maybe I will try to make a mobile version or something like that. I wanted to make more items, and make like "special" items that you could only pick up once that changed your bullets or gave you special powers or something, but I run out of time. Seeing that people like the game and that I love working on it so much I will probably do the mobile version, just the 64x64 game in the middle and some layout with buttons on the side, everything with nice looking low rez pixel art. I could even add more playable characters with unique habilites, progression etc.
What a fun game. Seemed to get a bit sticky around stuff, but that doesn't take away the decent design and implementation.
Really enjoyed. Good work!
Thank you! If you are talking about the doors, I could have made the colliders bigger haha but too late for that now! Probably when the jam finishes I will
It is hard to pass through the doors, need to aim very carefully. For me, it is slows down gameplay a little, i think. Game is great, thank you!
Thank you for the feedback! Maybe I should have made the door space a bit bigger hahaha
very nice game! i’ve made a game with a simlar gameplay, but you have a very good solution to telegraph the enemies! (what i didnt do well, like you) anyways i’ve learned something from you, thanks :)
Glad you liked the game! And glad you could learn something! I will try your game later
thank you, looking forward for your feedback :)
I wasn't expecting there to be multiple levels of progression after major bosses! I didn't get far past the big fist dude (i spent all my health placing all my bombs next to him), but the fact that there was unique content afterwards definitely piqued my interest. It has the smell of content that a good isaac-style rougelike has.
Hahaha yeah I focused on making as many content as I could. All the content is listed in the description :) Glad you like it!
WOW! incredible :D How many big bosses are there? I managed to get past 2 big bosses and then 2 more floors, got lucky with lots of +++damage :)
You were close then! Just one more boss :) I'm glad you like the game!
Wonderful game, very nice art. Plays very nice! Great job with that entry
Thanks! ;)
Great game! Got a chance to play this a couple times throughout the jam so it’s great to see how it kept getting better and better! I really liked the bosses as well and motivated me to keep playing to see what was next.
Thanks! It means a lot]
Whoa this game is amazing! Such a complete package. I went in expecting something like the arcade game in Stardew Valley and got Blockhead+Roguelite instead, even better! This can and should be a full game for sale I think, maybe with a higher resolution to appeal to the masses, even though I find the art beautiful as-is. I was really impressed with the shadows in particular, they make it look really good at this resolution. The Beedrill-looking boss kicks my butt every time lol.
Thank you so much! I don't know if anyone would buy this lol, but if more people say so maybe I'll make a higher res version. Or maybe I'll make it anyway just for fun who knows hahaha. Yeah the game is a bit hard lol sorry about that hahaha
Very polished game; it clearly adhered to the 64x64 limitation but didn't suffer at all for it. The game was readable and the enemy designs evocative. I was doing quite well until the fifth level or so when I lost 5 HP on one room with two enemies and the final one on the boss, but I have no one to blame but myself. Great work!
Thank you! It means a lot. Hahaha yeah the game is quite challenging even though I have made it easier than it originally was. I had to make me very op to playtest it easily lol. Again thank you for the feedback!
Oh hey I remember this one from the Discord. I love how the animations look with the minimalist visuals, makes everything appear nicely polished but also clear and readable with the low resolution. Very good entry, nice job!
Hey thank you a lot! I went with the minimalist visuals exactly for that reason I wanted to have nice animations but readable visuals. I'm glad you like it! I will play your game later
