Visual style is very unique and interesting, and I loved the cutscene effect. But from the mechanics I couldn't really get a good hang of. The jump feels too short, and I don't quite understand how the boosted jump happen when I cut something. I also got stuck after the X-windmill. Could not reach the next hit target, and no idea what I was suppose to do with the windmill. Anyways, I can see there was a lot of thought but into this game! Good job for getting it submitted. 10min before deadline :O
The game is very aesthetically pleasing and the intro cutscene is incredibly high quality, however I couldn't progress much into the game due to not being able to jump over certain obstacles, seemingly due to a known jump bug
Great work with the game, really nice graphics and interesting gameplay!
Absolutely stunning presentation and cool take on the theme!
Looking at other comments it seems there's a bug with the jumps tied with the frame rates so it felt too heavy on my end and I wasn't able to properly test out gameplay.
Which was a shame since I feel like the jump combos would've been really cool and fun, what I saw of how the level was laid out made me think that it would've been a lot of fun to run through.
The visuals are amazing (really like the intro cutscene / sword slash scene) and the idea of slowing down the flower petals when taking a breath is cool. I unfortunately also ran into the frame rate jump issue others are commenting on. Still the seeds of something really cool are here, nice job!
Excellent art and nice concept, poor execution with the frame rate capping the jumps, needed just a bit more testing to be great.
Good job nevertheless.
Pretty good!
I loved the stylized art and feeling! I had trouble figuring out that I needed to drag the mouse on the screen to go in the opposite direction - that direction arrow is hard to see sometimes. Could you put some instructions/controls on the game's page?
Fantastic work on the audio and visuals! The quick camera zooms look great, but most of the time hinder the overall playability.
The one major technical issue I noticed is that the distance of the jump is tied to the frame rate. At high frame rates, the jump distance is way too short. At frame rates over 90fps, the game becomes practically unplayable. Low frame rates have the opposite effect. Thankfully the problem can be avoided by limiting the frame rate via other software.
Otherwise, I had a pretty good time.
PROS
- It has a great oriental setting
- The art is awesome
- The animations when it does close-up and destroys something are brutal
- Game with a lot of potential
CONS
- The gameplay is addictive once you find the logic of the game, but I understand that for most it can be complicated and somewhat frustrating.
It's a totally great game in any aspect of graphics and atmosphere, the gameplay has potential but needs improvement, if it was a little faster and easier to control it would be great. It reminded me a bit of getting over it with Bennett Foddy.
One of those scenarios where the art is S tier but the code is C tier. I rated all art/visual stuff 5 star.
The GOOD:
- Shaders, Materials
- Colors
- Models
The BAD:
- movement is just clunky
- one moment I cant go anywhere, another im traveling super fast. inconsistent movement
- Jerky camera cutscenes, some are good, some are just really annoying.
- The gameplay just doesnt work due to the movement
I liked the transitions visually, but gameplaywise they were kind of confusing.
The art and audio was really good, well done!
I was playing on a wide screen and suddenly my character jumped across the map for some reason, other than that the gameplay was ok.
The font was a bit hard to read in my opinion, but it fit the visual style.
