Simple game with some twist regarding upgrades - I like it, the music and art makes it funny enough to treat it like a nice, small enjoyable side scroller :D
Thank you for your comment. And for organizing the Jam. :)
fun idea! i found the jumping delayed until i started double-clicking instead. that issue might be solved by the 'action.released' idea mentioned below.
i'm curious if you ever get to deposit your coins anywhere; that would help the player feel more incentive to collect coins and try to make it to the next 'ATM'. maybe they could even use the coins to buy some kind of power ups
I had the idea to buy card effects with the coins we collected, but in the last hour I thought I couldn't balance it. Thank you for your comment.
It plays a bid weard jumping dont feel like its reaction the way you want. and the cards seems to be active before i click them. also when i pres space it also count as clicking the card when i have the mouse on the card. so the combintion of mouse clikc for upgrade and space for jumping is not working.
You only get the effect of the cards when you click on them. I didn't fix the problems because I left it to the last moment. Thank you for your comment.
This is actually pretty cool! It took me a few tries to understand the value of ‘slowdown’ cards. As an improvement I would suggest making a clickable area for the upgrade bigger (maybe the whole bottom row of the screen?)
Thank you for your advice. I realized it wasn't very good. There was an hour left in the jam. I couldn't think of a better idea at the time.
Great idea and very accurate implementation of the game jam theme haha.
One suggestion is that I believe you are making the character jump on action.released which can cause the jump to feel laggy, for such a game I believe it would be better to make it jump on action.pressed :)
You are right I shouldn't have used action.released. Thank you for your comment :)
