congratulations! A totally well-earned victory. I expect to see it on steam next 😊

very fun and cute idea. i was hoping to see more variety in the game - additional elements to surprise, entertain or challenge the player. a health meter that quickly decreases between bites of cheese? cheese that goes rotten after a few seconds and harms the player? cheese that speeds up player, shrinks him to get around enemies more easily, gives him temporary invincibility, etc.? special cheese in hard to reach places, like behind barriers where it's easier to get killed? i know these are kind of mario-like suggestions, but they're the first ones that came to mind. :-)
fun idea! i found the jumping delayed until i started double-clicking instead. that issue might be solved by the 'action.released' idea mentioned below.
i'm curious if you ever get to deposit your coins anywhere; that would help the player feel more incentive to collect coins and try to make it to the next 'ATM'. maybe they could even use the coins to buy some kind of power ups
this could be the basis for a very cool math game. right now, it needs greater variety and challenges, but there are lots of ways you could get there:
a limited number of numbers that get depleted as you keep playing - this would discourage people from playing the number 1 too often. in other words, you have to think strategically about the next level
bonus points for using the fewest (or most) number of numbers to get to the total
power ups, like subtraction or multiplication signs.
having to click on numbers that are adjacent to each other
having to use a specific number of numbers (e.g. 4 numbers to make 19)
there's actually limitless potential to make the game super varied. i encourage you to keep working on it!
very creative idea! it became easy to fill to almost 100 each time because of the horizontal line separating the dark blue from the light blue background. i just waited until it passed that line by a certain amount. it might be a bigger challenge to remove that line (or make it vary in height!)
nice funky music!
interesting game! it didn't make me think of a captcha - it made me think of the game Set! then i wondered if additional challenges could be:
- finding identical pairs within a sea of unique shapes, each with different colors and patterns (it wouldn't comply with the 'one too many' theme, though. more like TWO too many!)
- looking for shapes that are literally shapeshifting - changing color or shape or pattern. maybe there's a target shape (like a blue button with two holes), and all the shapes keep changing. you have to click on one when it matches the target. (could be very intense!)
anyway, good work! with a few variations, I think it could be a really fun game.
great little math game! an excellent brain workout. i completely forgot about the order of operations at first!
i REALLY like how it's a resource management game too - strategically choosing cards (especially operators) to maintain a varied supply. and the tension really goes up when you're dealing with a timer AND shifting cards; almost too tense for a mellow-leaning guy like me, but I think it adds a fun sense of urgency. i occasionally came up against an aspect of the game that surprised me: wanting to use as many cards as possible and having multiples of a certain number - like eights, for example - I might've wanted to do something like 89-81 to get to the target number of 8, but as soon as I clicked on the first eight, the game scored it as a one-card play. i suppose, once the player realizes that, it can be seen as an additional challenge - trying not to finish your equation too early. and I realize that the only way to prevent it from happening is to force the player to hit enter or something (to confirm that their answer is their 'final answer'), but I thought I'd mention it anyway. more of an observation than a suggestion.
whoa, i MUST have liked this game - the mechanics of it really got me thinking (hence the long-winded comment)
re: the image you posted below, the first three points are very true about your game (fun, interesting, graphically cool) but the last one is false - there are just the right number of bugs: one ladybug!
(did I just repeat your joke? sorry, sometimes I'm clueless)
anyway, i really liked the game, especially the mechanic of moving from one surface to the other and getting to choose when you fall. nice work!
The mechanics are good, but I'm not sure if I see the connection to the theme. I've noticed that you've submitted this game to 5 different jams and haven't really stuck to the theme/rules in most of them. (Especially the one that says, "we're requiring that submissions to the Monthly Game Jam be exclusive to our jam.")
I wouldn't recommend this kind of thing - it's not really in the spirit of the game jams.
I won on my first try! Good dice-rolling strategy game, like Yahtzee but simpler. The graphics and audio are decent. The only thing I would recommend are other game modes - like player-vs-player (on the same keyboard, since it doesn't matter if your opponent can see your screen) or a 4P game: Player vs Player vs two computer players!
Well done for a first Defold game! Mine is my inaugural attempt too. It's a decent variation on the 'catching falling things' theme - the bucket-emptying aspect is original. The presentation is okay, and I didn't encounter any visual glitches. Maybe a few different kinds of dropping items would be a good idea - e.g., something to increase bucket capacity, to speed up the player, to slow the dripping, etc. Keep up the good work - I can't wait to see your next Defold game!
Impressive game! Very polished, quite addictive, and the various power-ups and obstacles make it much more fun than a standard Plinko game. The visuals are great, as are the sound effects. I wasn't crazy about the music (very hectic), so I just turned the volume down. My only recommendation would be to make the game a bit harder; it was a little too easy to complete the first 10 levels or so.
The Extra Piece is a puzzle game where you have to fit familiar-looking pieces together in a specific way, but there's a catch: you are given one EXTRA piece, and no matter how hard you try, you cannot make it fit with the others! This is a fun, relaxing, mildly brain-teasing game for kids and adults. Here is the link: https://waldorfhammer.itch.io/the-extra-piece (demo version created for the 2024 Defold Game Jam)
And a couple screenshots:

NOTE: You may be asked to restart the game at some point; in this case, simply reload the browser page. Due to a minor bug, the browser version works best in full screen mode.
I've started a basic account for Niantic Studio, and I'm confused about whether this version of 8th Wall has AR capabilities. On the 8th Wall website, most of the AR tutorials seem to assume that the user has the Pro version (the A-frame templates are not available for Basic users).
I've seen a few references to a 14-day trial for the Pro version, but I am not able to find the page where I can sign up for this.
Can someone from 8th Wall confirm whether or not Niantic Studio has AR capabilities and, if so, where can I find tutorials for this version? Also, please let me know if the 14-day free trial for the Pro version is actually available.
Thank you! I'm looking forward to building an AR-enhanced game.
UPDATE: I've discovered a tutorial for creating World Effects in Niantic Studio (I'll include the link below for other users). I'm still curious to know if the 14-day free trial for Pro exists.
this should be on Steam. it's 100 times better than most of the puzzle games on there. i don't buy many games these days, but Shadow Path is one I would be completely happy to pay for. more specifically, the audio (effects and music) and the visuals are perfect. the game mechanics and level design are super clever and original. overall, either the first or second most impressive game I've tried during this jam.
this is such an original concept, especially the seeding part. the visual effects are beautiful, and I love the way the UI is built into the landscape. at first i thought i was supposed to defeat the enemies (by throwing seeds maybe?) but i prefer the idea that it's a game of keep-away. i just had a thought: what if you have to stay away from the enemies AND plants seeds in order to trap them - they can only move through unseeded territory. just an idea. nicely done!
this is such a fantastic idea for a game - and very well executed! the graphics are quite lovely, and the puzzles are quite challenging - I like that! it's not always obvious that the player has run out of fireflies because there's no audio cue and (more importantly) there doesn't seem to be a way to see how many fireflies are left once you've passed a certain point in the level. also, as the comment below mentions, some music would be a nice touch. but other than that, I was really impressed! 👍
