Wow. Your game is rated the highest among all the submissions to this jam. Congrats! You really did very well this time ;)

Also, your game is in the let's play video I have compiled. If you would like you may want to check it out:

Thank you very much! I had a great time making it. :)

Now I need to go finish watching Magia Record.... I haven't kept up with any games/anime since this jam started, didn't have the time to do both ;-;

I saw the lets play on twitter and watched it! Thanks for putting that video together... and thanks for running this jam! I had been wanting to do video game with these characters for a while, so when you said you were running a magical girl jam, I couldn't resist.

A fun game. The flying monster is the true final boss of the game to me. Could not imagine a better story with the style and length of the game. One of the best entries I think.

Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Hoping to do more in this setting, when time allows.

This was such an incredible game and the end fight was fantastic!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it!  :)

Submitted(+1)

no thank you! I was very impressed by it! All of these entries are so well done it's blowing my mind.

Submitted(+1)

This is really cute, I enjoyed this a bunch! BUT WHAT STUCK OUT WAS THE ENDING FIGHT. IT'S SO EXTREMELY COOL. I absolutely love it!!!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! I'm really glad you liked the end fight... it's something I concepted very early on, before much of the rest of the game. It was one of my driving forces to finish the whole thing, as I didn't want that end stage idea to go to waste, but didn't want it to appear without any context either!

I have a lot of other ideas to explore in this setting... but going to take a little breather and work on a "smaller" project for a little bit, hehe.

A simple yet all around well executed game. It feels really smooth to play for the most part. What I liked the most were June's character animations and the sound design as a whole. It all felt so natural as I was playing

Good job on this game ^^

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing! :)

I put extra care into June's animations, I'm glad you enjoyed them. Facemelting Solos's sound design is incredible, it was really awesome working with them on this project.

I managed to finally beat it! Yay! I kept on losing during the last fight, the needles are really hard to dodge. I don't remember how many times I retried it.  I'm glad kept trying, because the ending was cute.

The art was nice. I liked the final boss battle's art best.

What I really liked was the sounds in the game. The sound effects were well done; there was even some voice acting! I don't see voice acting often in game jam games, so this was really nice.

I had a lot of fun playing through your game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for playing! I'm glad you were able to complete the game :)

I hope the end boss wasn't too frustrating. I can beat it with my eyes closed after so much testing. Some players think it's  easy, others hard, so I'm going to assume the balance is OK for now, hehe.

The sound designer on the project, Facemelting Solos, really went above and beyond! The voice clips were a great idea they came up with.

Great work! Polished artwork and arcade style fighting! Congrats for finishing this for the jam!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! it was a busy 2 weeks, but I really enjoyed it.

Wow can I just say, This is absolutely amazing everything is so polished and nice, I mean the voice acting, The art, The characters, the level design, The story! everything was just so amazing!! And that boss was freaking awesome! I absolutely love it! Wonderful job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! :)

Kudos for the voice acting go to Facemelting Solos and his wife! I hadn't planned to have that, but they came up with it on their own and it was AWESOME! Not to mention the music and other SFX, which were also amazing!

Submitted(+2)

Such a well polished game, i loved the story bits i think you handled it really well, i'm normally really confused how best to get that across! Also the gameplay is really solid, it was nice having a little tutorial page and having the animations in there was a nice touch! Reminded me of the pause screen on kirby games. I really enjoyed!

Developer(+2)

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed, and happy that the story worked well for you! Story is something I've had a real issue with in shorter jams, so I tried pretty hard to make it easy to follow and at least somewhat entertaining this time around.

The amount of detail on the control screen was something I decided to when I realized I had a little extra time. (That and the guitar-jamming sprite on the credits page, hehe)  I actually spent way more time on that section than I had ever planned. I don't recommend it for a jam, haha.

Submitted(+2)

Very well done! I typically don't do any story in jam games, so having such a fleshed out story was pretty nice. The gameplay was very good too, a lot of attack options. Pretty good submission. Did you do the voice acting?

Developer(+2)

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've had a Magical Girl setting in the works for a while, and when this Jam popped up, I couldn't resist making a little game in it.

Credit for the voice acting goes to Facemelting Solos and his wife! He came up with the idea to give the character some voice clips. His sound design came out really great!

My first reaction: "Nightmares"? Are you sure this is not a fake city inside a corrupted soul gem kept stable by incubator's seal? /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\

This is... a very great submission. Decent art, great levels, great storytelling. Also the music... @FacemeltingSolos? Such a good composer that you got there. Also, who did the voice acting? While it's not Japanese seiyuu tier it certainly is a nice detail. Can feel all the time and effort put to make this. Love it. Very well done. :)

If there is an improvement that I can recommend though... maybe you should separate the jump and guard button from the arrow keys? It's fine as it is, but I think it'd be better if they use separate inputs.

P.S.: I hope you read this before the submission closes, but can I have a .exe version of this game? It seems Win + G cannot be used for browser games. I think I want to try to record playing this game to make a "Let's Play" out of the submissions to this jam ;)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed, I had a great (if a little stressful) time making it. The voice acting is Facemelting's wife, with some audio processing. Credit goes to him for that idea, his sound design came out awesome!

You should be able to record the browser with Win + G, you just have to tell Windows that your browser is a "game."

Make sure your web-broswer is the active window. Then  press Win + G, and look for the bar that has the X-Box logo and time on it. On the right, there should be a gear icon, that's the settings button. Click that, and on the "General" section there should be a check box that says "Remember this is a game." If you check that, the record button should then work. (This can be used on any program I believe.)

Let me know if that works or not. If it doesn't, I'll see about getting a desktop version made.

HostSubmitted

It... actually works! :O

I just recorded me playing the game with Win + G (tho it would have been ideal if I could've recorded my first time footage, because now having fought the boss before, I totally massacred the boss XD)! I was actually prepared to download an actual screen recording software just in case it didn't work

So far from the ones I have played, this is the submission with the most effort put into it. Expect it to be in my let's play ;)

Developer

Great, I'm glad that worked! That was a trick my friend at work showed me.  It's definitely handy!

Thanks again! I'll check out your video when you finish it. :)

Submitted(+2)

Oh, this was a very cool game! I can't believe how smooth the movement was, and the sounds and visuals were awesome!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoy it. :)

It was relatively short but very sweet. The gameplay is solid, the art is very nice, and the story works well. Definitely a contender for my favourite in the whole jam!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words! I did this as a sort of "proof" to myself. I might consider doing more of this in the future, as it went pretty well. I look forward to checking out the other entries (especially yours!) tomorrow!

I too had a blast as well also!
