I love how the planets influence the ball's trajectory. I think the game itself is really fun however in my opinion the cheat mechanic doesn't fit in the game. I understand that you want to use the limitation they announced but instead of having to estimate the ball's trajectory you can just fire again when its off track. For me having to estimate how to fire the ball right from the start and seeing how it goes is the most fun part. Either way great job.

Developer

Thanks! I agree, you can actually pass first 4 levels with one good throw, and only on the fifth it's impossible to pass without cheating.

Submitted

I did the first 3 without cheating and it was a lot of fun!

I like this kind of game! Physics is fascinating.

Developer

Thanks! Sorry I can't check out your game, Mac user here.

Submitted

No worries. That’s okay. :)

Submitted

Fun game! Gravity was a fun way to put a spin on the golf mechanic. Glad to see someone else use Godot!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Godot rocks!

Developer(+1)

Your game is amazing btw, I played several dozen submissions and liked yours the most!

Submitted(+1)

Thanks! I like the unique idea of yours. I haven't seen any other submissions like yours!

Submitted(+1)

Great game, it's little bit short, but that doesn't matter :)! Maybe only one small thing is to add delay to cheating...? Because without delay it's really easy game :D! Here is a cookie for you: ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ🍪

Developer

Thanks! So interesting, initially it was a hard game because it was hard to grab onto the ball, people told me, so I increased the grab area to a ridiculous 40px radius and added slomo and even reset the velocity vector to 0 on next kicks :D Definitely made it too easy haha

Submitted(+1)

Really nice game!

Developer

Thanks!

Submitted

Do you want to try my game too?

Developer(+1)

Sure thing, would love to check it out but I'm on a mac so only can play on web or if you got mac version.

Submitted

Gonna do mac version

Submitted(+1)

i made it!

Developer

Hey, wasn't able to launch it straight away, brief google led me to this:

  1. open terminal, cd to the game directory
  2. chmod +x CheatZone\ -\ Mac.app/Contents/MacOS/Cheat\ zone
  3. xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine CheatZone\ -\ Mac.app

So I did this and was able to play the game! I escaped :D Will leave you a comment about that on your game page. But you might want to add these instructions for mac players to your download (or perform these actions and distribute the "fixed" binary). If you want I can zip back to you the game with those things set.

Submitted

If you are nice to send me the ziped game with it fixed thank you!

Developer(+1)

Sure thing, uploaded it here

Submitted

Thank you!

Really cool game, I did the whole playthrough. Pross for not telling players how to cheat. Althrough, the colliders are a little off, and it would be great if the game had some sort of points system, but it doesn't ruin the fun :D

Developer

Thanks for playing! I really liked your game too!

First time ever someone streamed playing my game, incredible! Thanks a lot!

Submitted

wow this game was really cool! definitely one of the games I enjoyed more in this jam! the cheating mechanic is really clever and the sound/art of it was all really nice! well done!

Developer

Thanks! I'd love to check out your game, but I'm on a mac. I see you have a mac icon next to the download, but I only see a windows .exe inside. Maybe you forgot to include the mac build?

Submitted

oh sorry tagging that was an accident, sadly GMS2 doesn't allow you to export to mac, unless you have a mac device ;-; I could try and find a way around it but that might take a while, sorry about that. I'll be sure to message you (hopefully soon) when I can get a mac build tho!

Submitted

update! I got a friend to export a mac version for me, not sure if this kind of file will work tho. I'll put it up anyway so please tell me if it doesn't work :p

Submitted

Really solid game. Great work.

Developer

Thanks!

I really enjoyed the game, it feels good to play and is easy to understand. Great Job!

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Boy, I have so much to say about this one.

First, I love how the game is kept simple so that the focus and controls are very clear cut to the player - that is a very good game design principle. I found a lot of people mentioning confusing controls for some of the games but this game definitely nailed it on the head when it comes to both visual and gameplay clarity which is very nice.

I think your soundtrack is nice and tame and fits the game well.

And dang, those graphics for the planets look on point (I'm assuming you made all the sprites and if that's the case that's very cool!)

Overall it just looks and feels good to play.

Fantastic Work and Game On!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and feedback! The soundtrack I made myself, but the planet sprites I took from overstellar asset pack

Developer(+1)

Wish I could try out your game, but unfortunately I'm on mac :(

Submitted(+1)

As we speak I am trying to figure out a way to port it to Mac! So I will let you know if that happens! I know a couple of other people and some of my friends who have macs and wanted to try mentioned this too!

~Sorry

Developer

Good luck with porting!

Submitted(+1)

Hi, evindor! Thanks for being patient with me! If you are still interested I made an exportable file for Mac OS users to try the game (it was immensely frustrating for to do as I have not used Mac OS in over 10 years [Windows/Linux programmer so I needed to set up a VM, but it is done nonetheless])! As I know you mentioned you wanted to try it I figured I'd get back to you! I hope you try it out and like it!

Cheers!

Developer(+1)

Hey, I tried playing it but can't get it running, seems like on Mac OS Big Sur (the latest) there is no more Rosetta since Apple is transitioning to their own chips, and there's now Rosetta 2 (x64 -> arm) instead :D Making cross-platform games is tough!

Submitted(+1)

Yeah thats for sure. Either way I really appreciate you trying to play it on your end although I am still sad it doesn't work ;-;

Submitted(+1)

Really really fun! It's pretty hard to grab onto the ball while it's travelling, but it wasn't so bad once I got accustomed to it.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I've addressed the ball thing and made it easier to grab, thanks for feedback!

Submitted

For some reason every time I try to play the game I get stuck on a pink screen

Developer

I had a friend report that once, but have no idea why. Happens on a windows machine right?

Submitted

Correct and I'm using Chrome if that helps narrow it down.

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game, hard to grab the ball though, maybe a slight time slow when you grab it would be helpful

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and feedback! Implemented your suggestion in the updated version, slo-mo is cool!

Submitted

I played it again and it definitely makes it feel more fair and fun with the slo-mo! Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

Very cool game!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Developer

Unfortunately can't check out your game as I'm on a mac :(

Submitted

So sad :(

Submitted

I like the game, It's fun. But it is very difficult to click on a flying ball.

Developer

Thanks! Addressed the issue you mentioned and added some slowmo and larger clickable area! Thanks for feedback!

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

This game is really fun and challenging. One thing i would recommend is make the ball easier to click on when it's moving quickly.

Developer

Thank you! I've increased the clickable area in the end, guess not enough. I wanted to put the game on pause when you try to shoot the second time, but didn't have time to implement it :)

Submitted(+1)

Really nice game

I liked the cheat idea and the hinting at the cheat without really revealing it.

Just two little things:
1. The speed you give the ball is very much, so you only want to have a very short sling/shotline, otherwise the planet gravity doesn't really have an impact. This makes it a bit unstable or unprecise especially when used for cheating. So maybe throttling the speed a bit would be nice.
2. Sometimes the planet gravity accelerates the ball also in the direction away from it, which seems a bit weird.

All in all it was really fun to play.

Developer

Thank you! I've used built-in Godot physics and it's a bit tricky to tune it just right for a space game :) When gravitation suddenly ends at some boundary it breaks the realistic feel

Submitted(+1)

Yes, I see what you mean. For me it didn't hinder the enjoyment of the game at all. Just thought I would mention it.
