I’VE MOVED TO WISCONSIN AND THE CHEESE HAS POSSESSED ME. I AM NOT LONGER MAN; I AM CHEESE!!!

Story (5):

The New Yorker in me is very satisfied, like how a thicc piece of lasagna satisfies the soul.

Presentation (4):

Eden’s CG really brings out the best in this, like how roasting a bulb of garlic in the oven, brings out the best in the garlic.

Creativity (5):

The first FVN with Double Docking. Need I say more?

Total (14):

I still need to reiterate that we went from discovering Love Recipes: Overcocked to solving the mystery of Love Recipes: Overcocked to A Cheesy Romance coming out in about less 10 days.

The creator is a force to be reckoned with. I still can’t believe that this masterpiece was created because I suggested to her to make it.

Remember people: you miss all the shots you don’t take.

It really makes you feel like you're fucking a lasagna

loved it

Unhinged in the best possible sense of the word.

Even for a story dealing with sexuality and sex, it is still surprisingly refreshing to see it explore without shyness the most unfiltered carnal desires.

This was very silly, but I couldn't help but to admire it 💖.

The ridiculous food-fetish premise aside, it was actually very sweet to see the genuine romance blossom between Al and Mel. It felt organic and well-paced to me. You actually managed to make it feel touching and adorable. Well done!

I'm also impressed you found an artist willing to draw... that... in such a short amount of time. It definitely enhanced the presentation of the story.

The comedy in this story was well employed. Not every joke will land, that is the nature of comedy. But the jokes that didn't land weren't lingered on, and the jokes that did land landed very well. Great job on that front!

Side note, I hope I didn't upset you during our stream with the "make my way" counter 😅. It's a writing quirk a lot of beginner writers have that's a personal pet peeve of mine. I have irrational disdain for the phrase, and all-in-all, you didn't abuse it. That said, it's still good to understand and recognize writing quirks you may have and figure out how to use them properly.

From what I understand, the story was made in less than a month, which is also impressive in and of itself. I'd love to see what you could come up with when you're afforded more development time!

Oh no no, don't worry haha You didn't upset me at all. It was all in good fun, I enjoyed the live read a lot.

Amusing tale that echoes the legacy of American Pie's pie scene with more vigor and enthusiasm, but perhaps doesn't strike out far enough on its own. It tests the waters, but finds them wanting... perhaps afraid to commit to the bit given how long it takes to get there, like some sort of warning to the errant reader who didn't realize what they got into and needed the warning signs flashed over and over again. What was advertised as an attempt to disturb/be vile is primarily comedic in execution, minus some awfully chosen purposeful phrases which makes SENSE in the moment but brings to mind the worse comparison when that phrase is purposefully used. You'll know what they are if you read it, but the hint word is "cheese".

More specifically--

Narratively, this piece spends too much time in the classes with the wrong focuses-- the dragon could have said nothing. All his worth was in a medium to present ingredients. What we needed was more hinting at the trauma of Bechamel before the drop in the spaghetti class. Otherwise, we lingered too much in the cooking, waiting expectantly for the lasagna fucking that was foreshadowed the whole time (which we WANTED to get to. Well, maybe others didn't but I did. That was the final course for the story you'd laid out.) When it arrived, you continued the food conceit even in the arousal of the characters, which continues to lampshade the situation for the joke it is. Even the names were chosen just to be able to have them produce their own namesake  sauce "organically".

Presentation wise, great stuff. Do I care that I've heard those free songs before? I'm not that judgmental of a person. My only real complaint was that the lasagna was so damn small. They only took one square home with them? That doesn't diegetically make sense with my fantasy-- that doesn't look like an adequate amount for two people to share. And if not that, then they should have had like a sufficient amount with them to eat and/fuck.

All in all, that was enjoyable, but I wanted to power through all the recipes and get to the interpersonal elements (up to and including the fucking).

Like its central subject, the lasagna, A Cheesy Romance has layers to it. It is true that the game's trek through the thematic intersection of sex and food doesn't necessarily break new ground, making familiar observations about how desire manifests and develops. However, the simple premise is elevated by the work's precise, nearly documentaristic gaze. In A Cheesy Romance, sex can be titillating and it can be funny, but it is also always something more – an account of the inherent absurdity of being an intelligent pile of meat and organs wired to feel strange urges.

The game's most potent thesis statement can be found in its split ending, where rejecting the transgressive direction the story takes leads to a facsimile of a heteronormative endgame. This choice is a testament to the visual novel's willingness to be in conversation with its reader: what are you here really for? What did you expect, and what do you desire? also they fuck the lasagna

Better cooking scenes than Fate/StayNight!

I really hope that if civilization ever gets destroyed this vn is all that's left of it, so future researchers hold it as a holy book or really important part of our history
