Awesome game! I'm definitely gonna check out your other games!
Congratulations on winning the Visuals category!
This game filled A space in my heart that was left by prey, very good game and I liked the controls also
Wow, I loved this game. I pretty much have a Metroid Shrine in my room (big Metal Ridley statue, Samus statue, posters, old games). This feels very well done and polished. I like that there are multiple control schemes. Enemies telegraph very nicely. Would've loved a boss buuuut that might've been a wrong story element. I want to play more, where's part 2??? Only thing I could suggest is one part was when you go down the hole and one area left, having the platforms be directly above the player makes those jumps a tad bit harder than might be wanted and staggering them a little bit or having a 2 wide platform with staggered up might be a little easier. Not sure if you knew but ball jumping seems way to high, it's like a 2.5 power jump and I'm not sure if it's supposed to or not.
From start to end a top entry. Love the background loop with the effects on it, very misterious and fits the moon setting very well. I was also very satisfied as i finally figured out how to do the jump for the final key card, very fun mechanic.
Also great that you provided multiple control schemes, with the pico scheme usually annoys me that jump and shoot are next to each other, so the way to go is ArrowKeys + Space + Ctrl actually (instead of WASD) then it makes alot of sense!
Love this metroidvania.
This is amazing! Everything works so well together to create such an eerie feeling to the game. The plot and subtle worldbuilding through the logs as well as the visual storytelling was super well done. The character sprites and color palettes helped create a darker and more melancholy mood. The music made the entire lab feel eerie and alien. Even the extra polish you added -- like the special effects on the damage markers and the slight static effect that covers the screen -- really adds to the experience. You did an amazing job on this, and it's even more impressive that you did this solo! Great game, can't wait to see what you make in the future!
Also, I really like the Metroid references, it's fun to see them used in a way where it's still an original story but a fun nod to the classic games that inspired the metroidvania genre.
Superb! One of my favourite entries I've tried thus far for sure - very impressive solo entry (We also used a lot of similar tools for our entries which is cool!). This is a really concise and well-executed little game, feels super cool and has quite a few mechanics and a nice variety of assets. Solid bite-sized metroidvania that could definitely be expanded on in a more full-fledged game. I really dig the overall vibe of it, nice work!
Brilliant direction all around here! Was a lot more darker in the end than I was expecting it to be too.
