Hello!

Wow that woman lanzando chanclas a la cara, so satisfying :D

It was wonderful, I did not expect so much fun with something so simple, congratulations! I loved the level design, the tight platforming sections, and the jump physics was super tight as well. Very well executed! I didn't care about the art of the enemies, I just had fun.

Cheers.

PS: try to find the sequence break in our game! :D

Thanks a lot for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed :)

The gameplay are nice, some platform are a bit challenging since you cant look down but you can respawn very closed so its fine. The two miniboss are cool, their attack help you more prepare for the boss fight. And the graphics and music are nice too.

The boss are challenging but a bit too much health, especially when it dont have too much attack variation per phase. Also there is a bug where if you run to the spike right after you respawn, the invincible frame at spawn point will make you able to walk into the spike without taking damage like this.

But still, nice game!

Ok all I could think was "I am Michelle Obama throwing peanuts at bubble gum in a spikey basement." I liked the mini tutorial and somethings worked on gamepad??? I don't know. Not a lot here to comment on beside the strange theme that I was trying to figure out, kind of felt  like random things were picked out of hat to create a storyline LOL. 3.25/5 Good job for the attempt, the music was minimal but not annoying!

Developer

hahaha, yes, I agree the theme doesn't make sense. The monsters started as a placeholder, but then I never gave myself time to draw something more complex, so I decided to keep the minimalistic style and say they are bubblegum monsters ๐Ÿ˜‚

By the way, she throws flip flops. That's what "chancla" means.

Thanks a lot for playing and for the valuable feedback! ๐Ÿ˜Š

i like when people use non traditional protags for these metroidvanias and i don't think i've ever seen middle aged business woman (business casual?) so big ups on that. the platforming reminded me a bit of i wanna be the guy, but was very floaty generally. the powerups were nice and the dash was responsive and really covered a lot of distance which felt good to use. the final boss was a bit of a slog, it felt difficult in a very frustrating way. the start of it was incredibly simple but takes a very long time to get through so every time you lose you have to do that part again and it really kills motivation to continue. that said, it was nice getting a final boss that could kill you at all, it makes all of those health upgrades really feel important. all told this was a fun one!

"You can use controller if you download the windows version."

I tried to download the Windows version, but it would not work:

Luckily, the web version also supported gamepads

I ran into an invisible wall though. Pretty sure this is a bug:

Overall, the game was really nice. Not too challenging. Except the final boss. I needed 4 attempts :D

ohhh damn, I'll check and try to figure out  what's up with the windows export. --> Edit: I figured out the issue, I exported the windows executable wrongly, but updates are unavailable until the voting period is over, so I'll just remove the window executable and will add the working one once the voting period is over.

I'll also check that invisible wall bug. --> Edit: The invisible wall bug is not game breaking, you can jump it, so I don't think I'm allowed to fix it, but will definitely fix it once the gamejam voting period is over.

I thought the controller support didn't work on web, at least it didn't work for me ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

What browser do you use??

Thanks a lot for the feedback and for playing!!:))

Great game and I love the player movement! I can move fast without any delay or what so ever.

Very nice experience overall.

The graphics are okay, but the very barren. Nonetheless, what is there is not bad, by any means.

The music and sounds effects are okay as well, nothing really stands out, but not out of place.

Gameplay wise, it's good. The movement is a bit floaty, and a bit of a nuisance in very precise platforming, but it's not bothersome for most of the time. The upgrades feel and control nice.

One gripe I have about the level design, or camera system, is that you encounter "leap of faith" situations quite often.

I did manage to cheese the first boss, since it broke the walls of it's area, followed me to another screen, fell down bellow in a spike trap and died. But it did not break anything and I got the intended upgrades, so hats of for making a bulletproof event system.

The Buff Slime enemy, and the Dash "Boss" got a chuckle out of me :)

Nice entry!

the major problem i had with this game was that the final boss had too much health and i couldn't finish it, but overall was a good experience and a good metroidvania game
