I will admit I did not end up playing all of this, but what I did play was very enjoyable!
Huge map and pretty good variation throughout it also with the level design and enemies both. A few areas felt a little repetitive, but with a map this large it's bound to happen.
The controls were quite good also.
I think I might even come back and play the rest of this one later even after this jam is over.
Thank you very much!
Here's my review. Hope its helpful!
Thanks for the review!
The games is rough, the rating is very fair IMO.
About some concerns:
- The ramps: it was my first time dealing with them, so they are kinda spaghetti. And it looks like you found a bug :), I am testing here and the character doesn't slow down like yours (in the engine, in the windows build and in the web build).
- About the J for Jump, in the options you can rebind the keys.
- The progression: there is a whole region that you missed, in 21:30 under your cursor there is a drop you can take that takes you to the blue region, so you are not really stuck. But yeah the regions ended up too large so the backtracking is really boring, it takes too long to get an upgrade.
Thanks for the compliment on the archer attack, it took me like a weekend to make it work, and after that I kinda gave up on trying to refine the enemies.
Thanks again for the review! Seeing someone that is not a friend playing the game was very helpful, hard, but helpful, seeing where you get frustrated and where you got lost.
Thanks
No problem! I enjoyed doing the recording. There's a few games on my list that I need to replay or play because I didn't get the chance, and yours is definitely on there. I haven't looked yet at the time stamp yet, but I think I know where you're talking about. Didn't know about the key rebinding, that will definitely help.
Hello!
I honestly liked it. You are using MetSys nicely! You got a very interesting mechanic with those archers enemies being able to remove the platforms temporarily. That has great potential.
Well done!
Cheers.
PS: try to find the sequence break in our agme :D
Thank you very much for playing and leaving feedback :)
MetSys being released was a very good thing, it helped a lot to make the game
this was pretty great, i liked the monster theme, sound, and level design. It was fun and quite simple.
I thought it was funny that the archers didn't turn around they just shot backwards lol
Overall 4.25/5 I played for like 10 minutes. It one I would like to explore more.
I'm glad you liked it!
Thank you very much for the feedback :)
Very nice game. I was blocked at the same point indicated in the previous comment, but overall the game, the music and effects are really cool! Good job!
Thank you for playing and giving a feedback :)
About this room, sorry for the softlock :(
I really love the sounds of this game, especially the background track. Two small things I noticed is I think enemies can trigger the temporary platforms to disappear, but that might be intentional. I also think I got soft locked in this room? I fell down here, would get on the red platform, but I don't think I could just high enough to get out. Awesome work!
Thanks for playing. Sorry for the softlock, but looks like you triggered the save point so you can just reload to the campfire, but now that I think, we maybe forgot to tell the player that the campfire is the save point :|. Sorry Again!
Even though the assets were picked from so many different sources, it still does feel relatively cohesive. I also liked the background music loop. One can tell, a lot of effort was put into this game.
What I did not like so much was the combat. On one hand, I could just run past by most of the enemies. On the other, I couldn't really dodge or block attacks when I engaged into a fight. Going into a fight always meant taking damage. That did not feel great. Especially since I got soft locked quite often, where I could not attack any more.
Sorry for the combat, this jam I learned that it is something I really don't like doing. We also had some problems with time management and had to cut a lot of mechanics and what was left is kinda meh.
Thanks for the review!
No need to apologize. You made a game! Be proud :)
Nice pixel art. I enjoy it but I think there's quiet delay on moving after the player attack.
Thanks for the review, the combat is something that I am not that proud of and I am sorry it does not feel nice.
