How was your experience with Mini Jam?
The jam was quite alright. Limitation allowed enough room for interpretation, but still gave me a clear enough idea od what I'd like to do.

Terrific animation and sound effects. Really solid and interactive gameplay could just use a little quality of life tweaks with the enemies Reviewed live at https://www.twitch.tv/scalphamission
Thank you very much for playing this on stream! It was great seeing my game through a player's perspective, I felt I got some good insight for how I could improve.
Nice art and concept, the score losing is a punishing mechanic more on the hardcore side!
The gameplay is a bit quirky at times, but we think that with a bit of polishing it could be a perfect rage game! :-)
Thank you for playing!
Yeah, after watching this game played on stream, I've got some notes written for how I could maybe fix some of the kinks. later down the road.
Simple yet fun gameplay! Impressive to see so many various enemies for a jam game
Overall a great entry to the jam!
Thank you for your review!
Yeah, I've been really into action-platformers over the past few years. XD
Great game, it makes me mad that the score resets, blocking is cool, the graphics are epic gamer, and it is fun to learn how to beat enemies. This is one of the best games I have rated (so far).
Gotta work for that high score! :P
Glad you had fun with it, thank you for your review! :D
i really like it, its annoying that my score reset but thats not bad, i died 47 times xD, because of that shark, but i finish the game, really good game, the art style and music remember me the 90s games
Thank you for playing, good job making it to the end at least! :D
A fun little game. I loved the blocking mechanic. It felt really satisfying to use
That's great to know! I wasn't entirely sure how well the blocking would go over in this game.
LOVED IT! I laughed through it all dying in chain (killed + restart and fall in water). Ended with almost 0 points and 39 deaths and I loved it!
The ninjas are really hard to time correctly
TLDR : I want an episode 2 please !
I'm considering making a separate build that has a few more levels, considering the reception this submission's been getting.
Hope the starfish weren't too aggravating, I actually had to tone them down once already; their attacks used to be more frequent when I first implemented them. XD
I loved hating the starfish ! Eager to see more !
Very good pace, just make the hitboxes a little clearer and you could create a real game out of it.
Nice nice nice.
This is the second time someone's mentioned hitboxes, but I can't put a finger on what. Must be one of those things the player can see but not the dev who naturally knows the ins and outs.
This is a banger! Besides my frustration for trying to build muscle memory to get past the dang green lizards, this was an incredible game and experience!
The green enemies are actually supposed to be pikes. ;)
5 stars is all I have to say
Thank you very much! ^_^
Thank you for playing, glad you enjoyed it! :)
Fun One!! The assets look cool<3 Loved it!!
Thank you for playing!
Yo that's one heck of a fun game! I love the different enemies and their combinations! That's very cool. Well done!
Thank you!
Fun game! Sometimes i get respawned in the water, but i think the game is still fun!
Yeah, my respawning system was a tad short-sighted. :/
What's supposed to happen is it's meant to push the player back 8 tiles, but not before running a loop that checks to see if there's any collision below where the player will respawn; what tends to happen is the player may rarely get placed *right at the edge*, and so if you're still holding down the movement key it might seem like it just dropped you right into the water.
Had fun, not much else to say :>
I'm glad to know you enjoyed it!
49 deaths and I did it)) nice one
Thank you for playing, and congratz on making it to the end! ^_^
Cool mix of game mechanics with the blocking and attacking. I also like that you integrated the concept of dying with one hit and also keep the progress - so it’s not that frustrating.
Hint: Sometimes the hitboxes feel a bit off.
Thank you for your input! Regarding the hitboxes, were the any particular instances where the problem seemed to occur the most?
One of my favourite for now, I just really love parrying in video game. The combat system is simple but it's super effective and responsive. The different enemies are super intresting. I love the retro art style. The sounds effect and the music suits the gameplay really well, really good job here.
Thank you very much! ^_^
Very cool game. You did a great job of making a simplistic combat system fun.
Yeah, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out!
Great game, good bestiary/attention to detail, enemy behavior, gameplay, and sound design. Retro feel but with a well-curated presentation, including excellent use of limitation. Precise but action-packed experience worth having, and a great submission to the jam.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D
