Turtle squaddddddddddddddddd asssembleeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
The causality of the concept made the overall visuals of the game interesting. The crab and the turtle assets were cool!! Loved the game<3
Good luck with the jam I hope you like other games in the jam too<3
Thank you! We appreciate that. You as well!
I really enjoyed the graphics and animation - i was annoyed with how fast the crabs move though!! kinda impossible to let the babies outrun them.
We’re glad you enjoyed the graphics and animations. :)
I was trapped by a ring of hyperactive newborns and was forced to helplessly watch as crabs consumed the entire population of younglings. I'm traumatized, but at least I had fun! The concept was executed beautifully.
We’ll update that after the jam is over. It was on the list, but… you know how time constraints are. :)
omg my team had a very similar idea when we were brainstorming, it's great to nice to see it get made. Fragile 1 hit death + seaside = baby turtles, obviously! We were having trouble thinking of how to control the baby turtles to get them to shore, but your leading them works so well. The tuning of speeds has great attention to detail here, making the crabs just sliiiiightly faster makes this game feel like a car crash in slow motion (in a good way) and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Beautiful art and music, this is a great game in my eyes.
Thank you!!!! Not many people seemed to notice that. It was a balancing act for sure. The terror that the player feels while watching a crab quickly approach your turtle herd is kind of fun, we think. :) We do plan to eventually add ways to defend against the crabs, most likely with something passive. The leading thought is that we’re going to allow the player to build sand castles to block the crabs from advancing, or pushing them back down into their burrows to delay them. Not sure, but we’re always open to ideas.
Thank you for your kind words.
Thank you! We appreciate the kind words. :)
I like the idea and the top-down view. I would add some effects to make it more addictive: steps trail, sounds when getting eggs/freeing turtles, etc. But for a weekend is pretty good
Great ideas! We had a big wish list, but steps in the sand wasn’t on it. It is now though, because that’s fantastic.
The sound levels need to be adjusted, but they actually are there. :) Eggs hatching, turtles chirping, and a little ding when they’re rescued. We’ll make them louder after the review period ends.
Such a neat little idea and a nice spin on a snake game formula. Unfortunately, it's easy to get swarmed by little turtles and get stuck. :c
I wanted to add a minimum follow distance, because you’re right. I was often trapped and had to wait for a crab to release me or just restart. We’ll update after the review period. :)
So cute! I love the theming of the game and trying to save turtles. The baby turtles did surround me and I was stuck, so i couldn't save them
I got trapped many times while playing, and we had plans to fix it, but ran out of time. It’ll be in an update after the review process. :)
The poor turtles! ;( Fun little game though :D Being able to defend the turtles against the crabs would be a nice feature.
We had a number of plans to add that. The easiest, and one that we’ll probably add, is stomping on the crabs as they’re about to come out of the sand. That will slow them down. After that, we’re looking at adding buildable barricades or some sort of knockback attack for the crabs that do escape. :) We’re glad you liked it!
The game is soo cute with the little crys <3
Totally thought the eggs were collectables, until I noticed the negative points
Thank you, I made the sound of the turtles by slowly releasing air from a wet balloon combined with me squeaking a bit into the microphone lol. Turned out decent :P
That's a creative way to make a turtle sound!
We had plans to show a a negative animation (frowning face, red minus, etc) but we ran out of time. We’re very glad you liked the game!
[Crosspost from main page] Haha I totally was running around squashing eggs w/o realizing the first go through, and then once it clicked things got very dark very fast. For some reason squishing the poor egg babies coupled with the crabs running around decimating the lot of was surprisingly dark - so that's what stood out to me (the whole mechanic kinda hits home lol).
Oh no! You killed them! lol
We wanted to add indicator animations (frowny faces, minus signs, etc) that displayed whenever you stepped on an egg with a turtle still inside, but we ran out of time. We may expand the game in the future and add that to prevent senseless baby turtle killing in the future. :P
The art is simple, the game is fun to play, in the start i crushed every egg xD
We’re glad you liked it! Thank you. :)
I enjoyed how cute and simple the game is. However, it's impossible to save every single baby turtle and hoped to to fight back against the crabs. Either way, good work to all who worked on it.
We had big plans for powerups and fighting against the crabs, but well, you know how it goes. Time was short. If there’s enough of an interest we’ll expand the game into a more fully featured experience after the review process is over. :)
This was a pretty solid entry!
Thank you! That’s very kind. :)
nice!
Thanks!
Nice concept
Thanks!
