Use of the limitation
In this game, your score represents the strength of your fire. Making your fire stronger is the only way to gain access to new areas of the map, and therefor progress. This gives your score a very important purpose of allowing you to progress.

Awesome game! I really like the concept that you constantly expand the area you can walk in

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!!

I actually really enjoyed this. I'll admit, after going through 60+ games this jam we were kind of groaning at the idea of another game about throwing sticks into a fire, but this one benefited greatly from being simple and focused. The game does one thing, and does it pretty well, the loop of getting wood to expand the safe zone kept me compelled until the end. Also that DOS sound effect when rescuing a friend took me back in time to the early 90s, made me smile every time.

Finished with a score of 171.

Thanks for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed! I totally thought my idea of feeding a fire was original when I came up with it, but when I saw some other submissions I realized it was in fact not. lol.

Nice game! I think the core concept is pretty good, but the gameplay stretches on a bit too long for what the game loop currently is. With some work this could be a really nice survival game.

Developer

Thanks! Yes I am aware it can get a bit boring, tried to balance that a bit but ultimately didnt have quite enough time to fully fix it. Thanks for playing!!

Very satisfying little game! I could see it becoming very fun if it was expanded into a bigger game. My only critique is that the gameplay loop becomes quite repetitive after a while, but it was fun nonetheless and it had a good level of polish!

Thank you! Expanding it into a bigger game would be a pretty fun challenge, maybe some time!

I got scared the first time I encountered a friend because I wasn't prepared for it to be a guy out in the dark forest haha xD The friend saving mechanic made me want to complete the game, it gave the game meaning. Nice game and entry! :)

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thats kinda funny that you got spooked at first though! :)

A good surprise, a nice game where you can feel the work done, just a note about the limitation, I did not understand what the score is for.

But a big congratulations for this project

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed! The score represents the strength of your fire. More score means a larger area of warmth around your fire to explore. This makes score a crucial part of the game because without it, you would freeze to death before you could get to your lost friends.

Love the art my dude. It all meshes together very well. Gameplay felt super solid.

Developer

Thanks! I tried to focus on art/atmosphere for this one since i usually don't put much effort into that. Glad to see it payed off!!

245 points. Could have scored way higher if I had left that last guy freeze to death out there =D.

Fun and chill game with neat graphics. Good job!
