Software used
Game made in Unity, some models was made in Blender. Background image for menu was generated by AI and HP-bar made in Paint.NET. Music and SFX was made by me, but outside the Jam. Free terrain textures and skybox from Unity Asset Store.

Use of the limitation
The game is a bout running on a grid of beams to reach the goal on each level. The grid is randomly generated and increasingly big and with added obstacles along as the player progress.

Nice use of the limitation! I think the game itself is pretty fun and has a good level of challenge. The game looks pretty simple at first, but then you realize there is a good bit of tough decision making involved (should i take a right or a left has never been more stressful then when you are running at a break neck speed). As others have pointed out the only major feedback i have on gameplay is that a few times i spawned right in front of the objective, which made some levels way too easy ( and the the rest feel even harder haha). Overall, pretty awesome work.

Thanks for the very nice comments, and for playing the game :)

Yes, the level generation has a bug in that sense (and also in that some of the lightning bolts and spike balls may spawn off the grid). I have fixed those things and a few others, but will not upload until voting is over.

Enjoyment: I liked it, it was fun balancing the parts where you go slow and look for the finish and parts where you jump over the gap in a mad dash to get to the end. I did get a few spawns that had the end right in front of me which was kinda weird but I'll take it lol. But yeah it was overall really good!

Concept: Pretty good

Presentation: Overall I like the style but I wish you used a different font other than the default unity font. The music also fits really well and adds to the atmosphere

Use of the Limitation: I mean it fits

Developer

Thanks for the detailed comments and for playing my game! I have had some trouble with fonts in Unity lately (might be version depending), so due to the deadline I just went with the default font to not waste time. The random grid generation have a couple of bugs in this version, a fixed one will be uploaded after the voting is over.

With some caveats, I really like the difficulty curve. Trying to look for the goal while also planning a route gets really intense. And the music and atmosphere complement that nicely. The level generation is often too easy, or really unfair, but when it works it really works. Very fun, and well done.

Thanks for the nice comments and for playing. The maze generation has a couple of flaws that I didn't have time to fix.

I will upload a fixed version (with other fixes as well) after the voting period is over.

love the concept and exciting music. you were correct, it is indeed a no mercy maze runner lol

Developer

Thanks for playing and commenting... I will balance things a bit when the Jam voting is over and after reading through the suggestions. And fix the... And ... Sooo many things to do :D

The vibe was fantastic! it was really enjoyable to play through. I did win 4 levels in a row because the goal either spawned right on top of me, or just a few meters directly ahead of me, but aside from that it was fun!

Developer

Thanks for playing, and lucky You ;) But at least You reached the level where the lightning bolts start running the grid. And later on the spiked balls are out hunting You also.

The random generation of the mazes do that occasionally - I have fixed this now, but not uploaded that version yet.

i really love the atmosphere and the idea! the natural difficulty of needing fast reflexes adds on to the exciting gameplay! nice :)

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the comments. It is a bit tricky and may need some more balancing, but it is a challenge ;)

Haha, I lost millions of times! Liked the concept, graphics and the idea of running through the grid.

Thanks for playing and glad You enjoyed it! Good thing You can always keep re-running the last level You reached.

Submitted(+1)

Haha yes, the replay last level was a wise choice to make.

Developer(+1)

Well, I for sure needed that when play testing the game :D

Game really tickles my nerves - I am not that much afraid of height any more, since I turned into a passionate mountain hiker, but having these sharp turns close to the abbyss -- whooaaa.

Yeah, still some spawns outside of the grid, answered your post already.

One suggestion regarding the mechanic:  I wish the game would be more forgiving. So turning in time is a good challenge. But when I manage to do so, I would like the game to correct  my characters position -  starting always centered after a successful turn. Otherwise it feels just too impossible to survive more than 10 turns or so.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for You comments. I had planned for some way of easing things out and let the game be more forgiving and will probably do so when shaping up all the things I didn't manage to do in time.

I have looked in a bit more to the spawn problem and will upload yet another update which I have yet to see spawn outside the grid.

Interesting game, enjoyably frustrating though as it's very easy to fall off the grid, but overall it's a nice and innovative concept :)) Good job!

Developer(+1)

Unfortunately, You are some times spawned off the grid which makes You fall to instant death :( I noticed this too late to have time to fix it, will make a bug fix for that...

Still happens to me when playing the HTML version.

I have just recently uploaded a new version that I have yet to see spawn the player outside the grid (knock on wood), hope it works as it is supposed to!
