Use of the limitation
We centered around a grim reaper fishing for souls in a river of the departed. It gave a twist to the traditional fishing concept while working within the given limitation of "no water".

I love rhythm games. There was another really good rhythm game submitted that I enjoyed haha! I also never heard of FireAlpaca; I will have to check it out. Great work!
Thank you!! FireAlpaca is great, it's a free photoshop-like software that has a lot of helpful modes (onion skin mode for animating) and a decent amount of tutorials, I've been using it for years for digital art!
A good rhythm game is the way to my heart. Love the animation and the theming! Sometimes I would trigger 2 notes at once causing me to fail. otherwise a great experience and creative take on the theme.
Thank you so much!! The 2 notes at a time thing we will def have to take another look at, several people (including us) thought it was awkward/tough timing, thanks for the feedback!
good game
Thanks!
Featuring a beautiful art style
Thank you :) my teammate obviouslyL is so talented!
This is super cute! The descriptions were funny and made me want to get them all :))
Thank you!! Glad you liked it :) It was a lot of fun coming up with the descriptions.
Hey there I was playing games on stream! Here is the recorded bit of this game:
Hey thank you so much for this!! You gave some really great feedback and I love the idea of the exploding notes when you hit them/adding some more details for polish. Sorry about the awkwardness of hitting the double notes - def agree it's an area to improve. Thank you for taking the time too to show how the pixel art could be less blurry. I didn't even realize the images distorted so much because I didn't open the final browser build in full screen! I know how to fix it now for next time :) Really glad you enjoyed the game and thanks for playing and leaving your review.
Had a lot of fun, its clear what to do and the writing is hilarious. Who is the naked guy?
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it! Lol the naked guy is just the base sprite that ObviouslyL was using as a base to create the rest of the characters - we just thought it would be funny to throw him in there as we were trying to add more souls to catch ;)
I remember the entry you guys previously did for last jam ! It is nice to see you back with another game!
The entry is really solid, it has all the mecanics you would expect from a fishing game with the cane upgrades and differents fishes availables ! I enjoyed the fishing animation particularly and thought it was pretty smooth. One little remark was that when there are multiple cranes to hit at the same time, it sometimes can be tricky to understand how to time it
Cool game!
Hi again from last jam:) !The double-note behavior was something I tried several different ways on how to handle, when they both cross the line at almost the same time, good to know it still might need some more editing. I will play around with it if I come back to working on the game. Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback!
The visuals are neat and the game's is very fun to play! I really like using the scythe in replacement of the fishing rod! Great submission! :D
Thanks so much :) ! Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice submission, I like the game loop to collect souls.
One improvement that I think could make a big difference, a simple loop animation suggestion motion on the soul sea would have been nice.
Thanks for playing and for the suggestion! Definitely a good idea if we come back to working on the game after this
I enjoyed playing it, the ghost's description were very funny and the music was great. Unfortunatly the game froze after I got the last soul, so I don't know how the game ends. Anyways, great job!
Thanks so much for playing, glad you enjoyed it! And oh shoot sorry it froze on you - the last screen is a "thanks for playing"/"congrats you got the golden scythe", I'll try to look into that bug, thanks for lmk!
I really love the concept of this game being a grim reaper fishing for souls. Doing a rhythm game is also something I had thought of doing so it's cool to see someone went with that idea and really made it work!
Thanks so much!! It was tricky to get the timing/movement right with the song versus just elapsed time, but a good challenge and learning experience too :)
